Beautiful hiking in the Appalachian foothills, with caves, waterfalls, and visitor center. Please note, this is a very popular area, but very hilly and only for those who are steady on their feet.
A great place for kids, and only 15 minutes from the hotel and our property. This is a working historical farm demonstrating life in Ohio in the 1880's. Best of all, it's completely free! Hiking trails, playgrounds, a pond, and wetlands are also at the park.
Columbus is a thriving city of around 800,000 people. It's chockfull of millennials, restaurants, breweries, and, um, Ohio State University. It's about 20 minutes from the hotel, and 40 minutes from our house.
Despite the appalling commercial wasteland that houses the hotel where we've blocked rooms, the historic center of Canal Winchester is actually quite charming, with restaurants and shopping, and about a half mile from the hotel. We recommend eating at Harvest Moon Cafe for farm-to-table food and good local beer, or Local Cantina for tacos. For local beers, there's Brew Dog, but if you plan to eat there, we recommend making a reservation, as there's often a long wait for seating unless you plan to sit at the bar.
