Wedding Party

Leona

Maid of Honor

Leona and Hanna found each other in 2010 working as an unstoppable Wardrobe Duo during a production of A Streetcar Named Desire. Between their appreciation for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, cider, fantasy novels, carbs, and passion for annoying Alex Meyer, they became inseparable. Until, of course, Hanna abandoned the West Coast and moved to Chicago. Leona pursued Wardrobe, and became part of the IATSE Theatrical Wardrobe Union in San Francisco, and flew Hanna out to visit as often as possible. Hanna was honored to be Leona’s Maid of Honor when she married Alex in 2017, and is thrilled to share that title with her now. When Hanna reconnected with Kurt in 2022, Leona was Hanna’s first call. “Leona, I’m going to marry Kurt Langmeyer!” To which she responded “Finally!” and made a Pinterest board for the wedding that night. You would be hard pressed to find a more fiercely loving friend.

JP

Best Man

Kurt and JP first met in 8th grade history class at Whitman Middle School and have been close ever since. Over the years, JP has become an honorary member of the Langmeyer family—so much so that many people know him as “JP Langmeyer.” If you have been at Easter parties over the years, or Halloweens at the Langmeyer house - you might have run into him! When Kurt first got his driver’s permit in high school, he was technically, and legally, only allowed to drive with immediate family. The backup plan, in case of a traffic stop, was simply to claim that he and JP were brothers (their uncanny resemblance would surely convince any officer). Kurt and JP share a love of board games, sneaking off with the sailboat, and—of course—JP’s favorite, Monopoly. Kurt is very happy that moving to Seattle means more time spent with this Langmeyer. Having JP stand by Kurt's side on this day means the world to him.

Claire

Bridesmaid

Claire and Hanna met in 2013 slinging cappuccinos at the Grind Cafe in Chicago. Their matching Capricorn energies quickly drew them together, and it was a matter of weeks before they were chatting on Claire’s porch every other day listening to podcasts, baking Aldi pizzas, and crafting. Their shared passion for creating, thrifting, and design forged the foundation for their long term friendship. In 2016 Claire moved back to Virginia to pursue Social Work, and the pair has visited each other every year since. Claire has a way of validating, calming and inspiring Hanna that cannot be replicated. Claire is one of those people that you don't need to explain anything to, the type of friend who follows your thoughts like her own. As one of the most cherished people in Hanna’s life, she is overjoyed to have Claire standing by her on her wedding day.

Nick

Groomsman

Kurt and Nick’s friendship goes all the way back to kindergarten at West Woodland Elementary. From there, they grew up side by side—playing basketball, riding the bus home from school, and spending countless afternoons together. With Nick living just around the block, hanging out after school was effortless, and the two built a rhythm of friendship that has lasted through every season of life. Nick is known for his love of spreadsheets, his thoughtful nature, and his steady reliability. No matter where Kurt has lived over the years, Nick has remained a constant—always ready to listen, to laugh, and to show up when it counts. And of course, no game night is complete without his spot-on Bill Clinton impression, a surprisingly perfect skill when the group sits down to play the former president’s favorite card game, Oh Hell.

Monika

Bridesmaid

Monika chose Hanna as her forever friend on December 18, 2015. At Hanna’s first fine dining job, there was a tall, fearless, and intimidating blonde. After working together for two months and barely interacting, Monika asked “You’re coming out for my birthday, right?!” Sparking a friendship that would last a lifetime. Monika is loving and passionate. Always ready to host a sleepover or go out for a night on the town. She never misses the opportunity to make a special occasion bouquet, or find a local craft fair. Her daily dose of memes is sure to brighten your day. At every opportunity she lets you know you’re loved, most often by making sure you are fed until bursting, wrapping you tightly in a blanket, and placing a cat in your lap. Though Monika is now minutes from Manhattan, distance has had little impact on the connection between these two. When she is with Monika, Hanna feels loved for who and where she is, making it a no-brainer to have this warm-hearted, fiery friend by her side on her wedding day. She chooses Monika as her forever friend right back.

Colin

Groomsman

Colin and Kurt met in first grade (or maybe second—memories differ), and quickly became friends and teammates on both basketball and baseball. Colin has always been happy to play a game or grab a drink when Kurt visited town, keeping them close. These days, Colin continues the sport team tradition, and is part of Kurt’s bowling team. Colin, Nick, and Kurt often get out for a round of golf when the weather cooperates. JP is always invited too, though he’s admittedly more enthusiastic about the invite than the golf itself. Over the years, Colin has become much more than a teammate—he’s a steadfast friend, a grill master, and the kind of person you can count on no matter what. Several years ago, the four of them began regular game nights whenever Kurt was back in town. Those gatherings became a tradition, strengthening bonds that had already lasted decades. Kurt is honored to have them stand with him on his wedding day. Though there are many more friends he would gladly include, space is limited—and ten groomsmen felt just a bit excessive.

Wendi

Officiant

In 2015, Wendi interviewed Hanna for a part-time nanny job for her twin daughters. By the end of 2016, they had formed a close family bond. Hanna moved to Wendi’s neighborhood, and they began collecting crystals, learning tarot, and planting in the community garden. When COVID hit, Hanna, Wendi, and the girls formed a quarantine pod, bonding with neighbors from their back porches and eventually attending distanced celebrations together. Though Wendi is a romantic at heart, she’s always been skeptical of legally binding unions and warned Hanna not to rush. But in October 2022, Kurt came to Wendi’s building for the annual pie competition. After just an hour with him, Wendi pulled Hanna aside and said, “You MUST marry that man!” Once Kurt moved to Chicago, Wendi hosted weekly game nights. She and the girls—lovingly called Hanna’s nieces—joined the couple on holidays and mini vacations, and “Unkie Kurt” became a fixture at every gathering. It was an easy decision to ask Wendi to officiate. With a Master’s in Early Childhood Education, speaking to adults should be easy compared to managing a classroom. Some families you’re born into—and some find you. Thank you, Wendi, for being our found family and for officiating the start of our new one.
