October in Maine has been one of our favorite times of year since moving out east three years ago. The fall foliage peaks, the air temperatures remain pleasant, fresh vegetables from local farms are in bounty, and many of the summer tourists leave town. It is a great time to go hiking in the mountains, but also a good time to be on the coast as the Atlantic Ocean awakens with good waves… Our wedding will take place on the Thayer’s farm in Kennebunk. Claire nannies for the Thayers and accordingly has gotten a lot of time to walk the grounds with the little ones and envision what the wedding day will look like. There will be some familiar aspects, such as a large tent in case of rainfall, a dinner shared together, a ceremony, and dancing. But given Claire’s imagination and Kurt’s ingenuity, one can only expect some non-traditional wedding features as well - stay tuned! The spirit of the day may resemble a festival - celebrating our love and the gorgeous nature that surrounds us. We encourage you to walk the grounds, hang out in the Adirondack chairs beneath fall foliage, play lawn games, play pickleball and tennis, and even go for a little paddle or float on the pond. The barn will be open for activities like photos, more games, and is another place to enjoy drinks and snacks in the extremely unlikely chance of precipitation. To celebrate nature and the day of our marriage to the fullest, Claire and Kurt will be camping in a tent on the farm the night of the wedding and encourage all interested guests to join us, if feasible for you! We look forward to seeing you in Maine!
