Cory and Kristine met at the cleanest and classiest of dorms at ASU, Manzanita Hall, through a mutual friend. We lived on the same co-ed floor (floor 5) and connected over — surprise, surprise! — music. Cory even went to Taste of Chaos with Kristine on a whim, after knowing her for all of five minutes. They would keep in touch over the years after Kristine transferred to NAU her sophomore year. In December 2010, they reconnected at a Motion City Soundtrack and Fun. show on the ASU campus. And as they say, sparks flew, and they made things official at a Wolfgang Gartner show at Marquee Theater. Cory's first music memory of Kristine: "Shortly after Kristine moved back to Tempe, we went to go see the local band, Black Carl at a random restaurant in Scottsdale. While we were sitting at our table with a few friends, I wanted to get up and move around to the music, and just as I was thinking that, Kristine said "I think I'm going to go up there, I like moving to music like this." So we both got up and went closer to the stage and shared our first "dance". Kristine's first music memory of Cory: "We were listening to music in my dorm room, playing a game of musical popcorn, if you will, where we took turns playing a song. When Cory put on Regina Spektor, I was taken aback, thinking, 'This kid who wears black metal shirts likes Regina Spektor?' It was a fun surprise."
One week after buying their first home, Cory and Kristine packed up a couple backpacks, filled up the tank of her Chevy Cruze, and drove north-ish to Apache Lake for Apache Lake Music Festival. Right before their fave local band took the stage, Cory and Kristine strolled over to the side of the lake, and there, he popped the question — to which she said, 'Yes!'
