Founded in 1451, Glasgow Uni is the fourth-oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland's four ancient universities. It is also where Kirsty's dad, Ross, went to Uni and where she studied abroad in 2009. Walking around the university grounds, you will feel like you are in Hogwarts!
Ashton Lane is a cobbled backstreet in the West End of Glasgow and is noted for its bars and restaurants. Stroll down and grab a drink at Jinty McGuintys Irish Bar or reserve dinner at the world-renowned Ubiquitous Chip for delicious Scottish fare.
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is Scotland's most visited free attraction. With 22 themed, state-of-the-art galleries displaying an astonishing 8000 objects, the collections are extensive, wide-ranging and internationally-significant.
We couldn't ask our American friends to come to Scotland without recommending a Whiskey Distillery. The Clydeside is located beside the River Clyde, and distills a delicate New Make Spirit. The distillery celebrates Glasgow’s dockside heritage – because it’s how Scotch whisky became known and loved across the globe. Book a whiskey tour on their website with prices starting at £15 for a 1-hour tour and tasting.
The Glasgow Botanic Gardens is a botanical garden located in the West End of Glasgow. It is right across the street from the Òran Mór, where we will be getting married! It features several glasshouses, the most notable of which is the Kibble Palace. The Kibble Palace is a Victorian glasshouse of cast iron construction, an extensive temperate and tropical plant collection & fine sculptures makes it a beautiful place to visit.
Mother India is a Glasgow icon, renowned for its exceptional, flavorsome Indian cuisine. It also happened to be Kirsty's dad's favorite restaurant. It is definitely worth a visit -- although plan to make a reservation in advance!
