Santa Monica and Malibu beaches are some of our favorite places in Southern California—full of natural beauty and classic coastal charm. However, recent wildfires have affected parts of the landscape and coastline, and recovery efforts are still underway. While these areas remain iconic and worth visiting, we encourage guests to explore with care and stay aware of any local advisories. The condition of trails, beach access points, and water quality may vary as September approaches. We’ll continue to hope for clear skies and safe surroundings for everyone to enjoy these special spots, and we appreciate your understanding as nature heals.
One of our favorite things to do is enjoy a relaxed lunch at Back on the Beach, a beachfront gem in Santa Monica. With outdoor seating right in the sand, you can kick off your shoes, savor a delicious meal, and take in breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Afterward, we love taking a stroll on the beach or along the nearby scenic path, soaking up the sunshine and salty sea air. This spot perfectly captures the laid-back charm of Santa Monica and offers a truly memorable dining experience.

Whether you’re sunbathing, swimming, or simply enjoying the ocean breeze, Zuma offers plenty of space to relax. For a more active day, bring along a frisbee or volleyball, as the beach has ample room for games. There’s a snack bar on-site, but you might also want to bring a picnic—snacking on the beach is one of the best parts of the experience! If you’d rather not pack your own, you’ll find nearby eateries along the Pacific Coast Highway. After soaking in the sun, consider walking along the shore or watching the surfers catch waves. Stay until the evening to catch a stunning Pacific sunset—it’s the perfect way to cap off the day.
