Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago
This is an excellent place for adults and kids alike! A world-class museum with plenty to see and do.
Field Museum
Chicago has many excellent museums, and this is one you can't miss! You can go alone for the photo op with Sue, the gigantic T-Rex skeleton in the grand foyer. This museum is in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood (and right next to the Shedd Aquarium) which is easy to reach via Uber or taxi, as well as public transportation, walking, and biking.
Wrigley Field
Laura and Kevin are White Sox fans, but will begrudgingly acknowledge that Wrigley Field is a great place to visit if you're from out of town. Just don't cheer too loudly...
Guaranteed Rate Field
We'll always call this Comiskey! For a better team, better fans, and better food and drinks, check out a Sox game while you're in town.
Watershed
This is where we had our first date! A cozy, intimate speakeasy-style bar with excellent cocktails. Located underneath Pops for Champagne in the Gold Coast neighborhood.
Shedd Aquarium
Are you sensing a theme here? Chicago has excellent museums, and the Shedd is located in the "Museum Campus" area of the city, where you can also walk and bike along our lakeshore path and Grant Park.
Beatnik West Town
A fun bar and restaurant in our neighborhood. Great for brunch or drinks.
Rosa's Lounge
A great spot for live blues for a true Chicago experience.
The Green Mill
A bar steeped in Chicago history, the Green Mill was frequented by Al Capone, but is most famous for being a spot where Kevin took Laura for her birthday. This is another great spot for live music, but make sure to arrive early and check out the website for performance details -- it fills up quickly!
Printers Row Wine Bar and Shop
One of Laura and Kevin's favorite spots to grab a drink because Laura used to live right around the corner!
Green City Market Lincoln Park
One of the largest and most active farmer's markets in the city. Hosted Saturday mornings. Get there early to walk around and try samples, purchase fresh flowers and baked goods, and enjoy some people watching.
Cindy's
Weather permitting, this is an excellent rooftop bar with a view of the lake and skyline. We recommend going outside of peak hours or calling ahead, as wait times can be long.
Eataly Chicago
A fun Italian food hall where you can eat, drink, and shop with both your eyes and your stomach!
The Press Room
A great spot for lunch or dinner with excellent wine and cocktails, as well as a unique and well-crafted menu. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Lula Cafe
Laura's absolute favorite spot for brunch. Arrive early -- it gets busy quickly!
Etta Bucktown
Another favorite of Laura and Kevin's in the heart of Wicker Park.
Pequod's Pizza
One of the best spots for pizza in the city
Metropolitan Brewing
Brewery with outdoor patio seating right off the Chicago river. You can also rent kayaks nearby and end the day with a beer!
Lakefront Trail
Rent a Divvy bike or go for a run on one of the most scenic bike paths in the country.
The 606 - Damen Access Point
Another great bike/running path in the west side of town. This was a converted railway (similar to Highline in NYC). There are lots of bars and restaurants near the trail to stop by for a drink while on the trail.
