We're so excited to celebrate with you!

Having spent more time together in pandemic lockdown than out of it, we're itching for a party with our dearest friends and family. We can't wait to to celebrate this special day with those who mean the most to us!

How We Met

Like many other 30-somethings who work too much, Laura and Kevin found themselves on Bumble in June of 2019. Deciding to go big or go home, Kevin convinced Laura that he was training for a triathlon by swimming laps in the Chicago River. Curious about what kind of lunatic would do such a thing (and not realizing he was kidding), she agreed to a date. Kevin almost bailed on the date when he found out that Laura didn't drink beer, but they luckily found common ground over their mutual love of Jeppeson's Malört and dissecting the American healthcare system in a cozy speakeasy downtown.

Engagement

A few months after moving into their first apartment together in Chicago's West Town neighborhood (and learning that Kevin actually does like cats), Laura and Kevin took their first "real" trip together to Oregon's Willamette Valley in April 2021. They'd bonded over a mutual love for really good pinot noir during the long, dark winter of 2020 and booked a flight within days of securing their vaccine appointments. Kevin arranged for a private tasting at J. Wrigley's sunny hilltop vineyard—which, between the 10am start time and a photographer inconspicuously taking "marketing photos" in the background, was only mildly suspicious. With the sun shining and a breeze warm enough to ditch their coats, Kevin popped the question. Despite sharing a last name with the lesser of Chicago's two ballparks, Kevin chose to propose at J. Wrigley because of its special folklore. From J. Wrigley’s website.... John & Jody Wrigley met in 2005 while John was looking for property to start his wine-making dream. In 2007, in the midst of preparation and planting, John proposed to Jody at the corner of what would become the first block of Pinot Noir, now named the Proposal Block. As the story goes, Jody replied with an enthusiastic yes, but she had a caveat: she loves Chardonnay and the vineyard lacked Chardonnay grapes! Never one to back down from a challenge, John started planning for a Chardonnay block, which would eventually be dubbed the Acceptance Block.
