Effective February 28, 2022, the City of Chicago has removed the mask and vaccine requirements for certain public spaces. Masks will continue to be required in CPS, health care settings, on public transit, and in other congregate settings. While there have been reports of rising cases of the new BA2 variant, we choose remain cautiously optimistic. Our venue offers large doors and windows that can be left open should we need to increase ventilation, and the vast majority of our guests are vaccinated and boosted. We will be monitoring any changes in local guidance and regulations, and may require masks and/or proof of vaccination should the City of Chicago, or the CDC/health department recommend or require such actions. All guests are, of course, welcome to wear masks should this make them more comfortable. We greatly appreciate your support and understanding so we can keep our celebration as safe and welcoming as possible for everyone, especially our most vulnerable guests, and hope to make sure you feel safe as well! Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
We are registered at Crate&Barrel, and also have a "universal" registry on zola.com, which consolidates items from several stores. Please feel free to drop us a note if you run into any issues with either site. Yes! If you will be joined by your kiddos, please include them in your RSVP so we can ensure we have appropriate meals and seating. Some of our guests will be hiring childcare for the latter part of the evening so they can "take the night off," whereas others plan to unleash the party animals and have them join us for the entire evening. If you have specific questions, need help planning accommodations, or are from out of town and would like recommendations for childcare or a sitter, please reach out to us and we'd be happy to help!
In a word: unpredictable! If you're traveling from out of town, we'd recommend checking the forecast a few days before, as our Spring weather tends to change frequently. It's not a bad idea to bring a few layers, including a light jacket, just in case. If you plan to spend time exploring the city, make sure to pack comfortable shoes!
Our wedding is hosted at Fairlie, in Chicago's Kinzie Industrial Corridor, just a few miles west of downtown. You can get to the venue quickly by Uber or taxi, as well as driving; from downtown Chicago, it will take about 15 minutes. We don't recommend using public transportation unless you're local (taking the bus in heels is never fun!). If you will be driving, Fairlie has a free on-site parking lot with capacity for 30 cars, as well as ample free street parking right outside the building. There will be plenty of fun to be had, including adult beverages, and we kindly ask that you don't drink and drive. We would be happy to help you and your vehicle safely reunite the next day should you decide to leave your car behind for the evening.
Chicago has dozens of hotels to fit any mix of budget, location, and accommodation needs. Rather than booking a block of rooms, we've listed some of our favorites on the "travel" page. You can also rent an AirBNB in one of the city's amazing neighborhoods for a more local experience. We recommend staying in the near north or northwest parts of the city (downtown, River North, Wicker Park, and the West Loop). We live in the West Town/Ukrainian Village neighborhood and love it here! If you need a recommendation, don't hesitate to reach out.
Of course! Memorial Day weekend in Chicago is full of activities. If you'd like recommendations for things to do while you're here, check out our page on things to do and see. We'll be hosting an open rehearsal and welcome dinner Saturday night at MingHin with all guests welcome.
