We Love Portland and we hope that you get to spend some time there during your visit to Oregon. However please note that Portland it is an hour away from the wedding venue and we recommend that you look into staying in Hood River the night of the wedding. The official wedding events will also be in/around the Hood River area.
Unfortunately there were no room blocks that we are arranging for the wedding. There are plenty of places to stay though--- please see Travel section for recommendations.
Yes, Hood River area just recently got Uber in Summer 2024, however there is not a lot of availability as of our own attempts to use Uber in Hood River in Sept 2024. There is parking at the venue for those who wish to take advantage of this. We are also looking into providing a shuttle from some select downtown locations to and from the venue.
Colorful and semi-formal Women: may we suggest cocktail-length or full length dresses, jumpsuits or dressy separates for women. Men: slacks; jackets and ties optional. Please no jeans. The majority of the event will be outside in grass so block heels, wedges or flats are recommended. There is also a gravel path leading to the main areas. Please also keep in mind that Mid-October is usually the period of summer-fall transition. Please consider an extra layer for later in the night however the covered reception area is well-heated.
The earliest that guests can arrive to the venues is 3:15pm. There will be opportunities for welcome drinks and signing the guestbook prior to the wedding.
The ceremony will be outside on the uncovered open lawn. If there is a weather forecast of 30% chance or more of rain on Saturday, there will potentially be an alternate covered tent for the ceremony. This will serve as a covered location for both the ceremony and the cocktail reception in case of rainy weather. The open-sided covered reception area is well-heated as well.
All of the wedding celebration events will take place at The Orchard in Hood River.
There is some parking for those who wish to travel separately. We are also looking into providing a shuttle from some select downtown locations to and from the venue.
We invite you to RSVP online here at the RSVP tab. Please contact the Bride and Groom if any questions or difficulties about this process arise.
Yes, the Orchard is wheelchair accessible. The venue is mostly lawn with a few short gravel paths. The reception area is a flat and easy-to navigate area on foot or on wheels. There may be a few of our honored alter-abled guests wo we would be happy to make arrangements to be dropped off closer to the ceremony lawn to avoid the entrance gravel path. Please contact the bride and groom in advance of the wedding weekend for making these arrangements. There are also ADA accessible bathrooms.
Welcome to Oregon, all of you out-of-towners! The weather here can be funny. During the day, the weather in Hood River should be beautiful, averaging 55-65 degrees, but will get chilly & breezy at night. Please bring some warm layers for the evening. The open-sided covered reception area is well-heated as well.
There will be an opportunity to highlight medical and dietary preferences when you provide your RSVP. We want to ensure that everyone can eat, drink and be merry.
We'll be serving hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour. Dinner will be served family style - no need to worry about choosing an entree ahead of time. There will be plenty of food options for all including vegans and vegetarians--- no need to provide an entree preference prior to the event. We will also have an opportunity for you to indicate medical/dietary preferences when you provide your formal RSVP.
In accordance with local noise ordinances, we will all leave the venue by 10pm. We will arrange for our shuttle options to provide an early 915pm departure and a 945 departure.
We are working to select a downtown Hood River venue to continue our celebrations past the 10pm venue departure time.
We will have an unplugged ceremony to allow for us to enjoy this ceremony in the moment. We have a great photography team that will be able to capture the day and the wedding ceremony to its fullest.
We encourage you all to take whatever health measures that you will need to keep yourself safe-- be it masking or self-testing. For the health and safety of our family and friends who are immunocompromised, we do encourage you all to pursue Covid 19 vaccination or pre-travel testing. Thank you for your understanding!
We appreciate your understanding that our special day will be adults only, with the exception of children in our immediate family.
Do not wear stiletto/skinny tiny heels. I repeat, do not wear stiletto heels. There are a bunch of grassy and gravel areas in the venue. We recommend wedges, thick chunky heels or flats.
