We can hardly convey just how excited and honored we are that you will be there with us on one of the most important days of our life! Many of you will be traveling and all of you are expending your time and resources to be with us, and we are so grateful! From the beginning of our wedding journey, we knew the biggest priority, second to creating a day special to us, was the company in which we celebrated. We have no single person on our list that doesn’t hold a deep and meaningful place in our hearts and each and every one of you is in some way responsible for the people we are today and the support system upon which our foundation is built. We have been working with our parents to create events where we can soak up as much time with everyone as possible, and provide as many options for you to fully explore and enjoy California’s iconic Monterey Bay. Check out all the event and local information we’ve cultivated for you on our site! With love, Drew & Kendra
They met in passing at the gym Drew works at, but little did they know their paths would cross a few months later. Drew was beginning his career as a fitness trainer and he went to get a certification that would help bolster his training skills. As he walked in, who would he see, but the stunning girl he had met a few months back. Kendra was one of the lead instructors for the certification. They caught up briefly, and went to different groups for the days event. After the course was over, Drew waited for 30 minutes to ask Kendra for her number to see if she would join him for a “professional-networking” meet-up where they lived in Santa Cruz. After a week or so, he texted to see if she would want to come to the rock climbing gym with him and his friends. Luckily, she accepted the invite and Drew’s friends (who weren’t actually invited in the first place) “couldn’t make it” so the meet-up became their first date. Two additional dates later, Kendra finally figured out that Drew was interested in her too, and that was the beginning of their story.
For a proposal, every man has three basic questions to sort out before they ask the love of their life to marry them: where, when, and how. For me, the “where” was easy. I knew it had to be at Kendra’s favorite place in the world, Hawaii (specifically the island of Kauai). The “when” and the “how” were a little more difficult. But once the trip was planned and the photographer was secured (big shout to Kendra’s bridesmaid, Amber, for that) I figured it would be easy to figure out the answers to the other two questions when we got there…I was wrong. After the ring burned a hole in my pocket for the first 3 days of the trip, I looked for any opportunity to get down on a knee…beach walks, grocery runs, untied shoes, you name it. But thankfully another member of Kendra’s squad had my back. Terada told me I would be upset with myself if I did not wait for our 3-day kayaking trip across the Na Pali Coast…one of the most scenic and incredible places in the entire world. I agreed, and when that trip came, I stuffed the ring box in a sock and placed it in the most secure bag on Kendra and I’s kayak (which was fortunate because we tested that security after flipping our kayak 20 minutes into the trip). After an amazing day and half, the group of us planned to venture to a beautiful secluded beach that no boats were allowed to dock on. I knew this had to be the spot! The only problem was…we had to swim there. Again, Terada came up clutch and swam with a dry bag that contained the ring (I didn’t trust myself with it on the account that I may let go of the bag or drown during the quarter mile swim). After a tiring swim, we made it to the beach…and the nerves set in. It was show time. But of course, there was another oversight on my part…I had to hide the ring somewhere, and we were all in our swimsuits. So, I placed the ring box in my board-short waist band and cinched it up as tight as I could. Amber, knowing the proposal was coming, asked Kendra to go on a walk down the beach. With the ring not-so-securely fastened to my waist, I met them under a beautiful rock archway, and the rest was history. Kendra made me the happiest man in the world by saying yes, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her! Honopu Beach, Na Pali Coast, Kaua’i, Hawai’i
