We met for the first time at a white elephant exchange at a friend's apartment while we were attending Auburn University. For the first few years of knowing each other we remained friends and then eventually starting dating our last year of school on Cinco De Mayo. We have celebrated with margaritas every year since!
We were fortunate to have gotten jobs before graduating during the pandemic, both of which were luckily in the same state - North Carolina. Neither of us had been to the tar heel state before, but it has since grown very dear to us. We did long distance for a year and a half before finally settling in Charlotte, where we currently live in a cozy townhome in LoSo with our very cute dog Winston, who is our world!
It was cherry blossom season, and we went on a trip to Japan with some friends. It was a rainy day, and Mitch's original proposal idea didn't work out as planned the day before, so he was anxious to find his back up plan. We were touring the grounds of the Nijo Castle, when a tree lined path in the garden came into view. With no one around, Mitch took his chance and asked to take a stroll down the path, where he popped the question. It was a spontaneous and perfect moment, one we will never forget!
After starting our relationship in a pandemic, then having a long distance relationship, and both having families who were far away, many things prevented us from taking any trips together as a couple. After nearly 4 years of dating when it still hadn't happened, we decided to go big or go home - and booked a trip to Italy! It was a special trip to us for several reasons, as it was a 10 day trip for our first vacation away together just us two, and Kaylee had never even been out of the country before! Needless to say, we fell in love with the country, and more specifically Tuscany. To this day, many passport stamps and adventures later, Florence is still our favorite place on earth. We can't wait to share what this amazing city has to offer with those we love most!
