You will need to fill out the UK ELECTRONIC TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION (ETA), a requirement that costs £16 to submit. (It's easy!) ETAs are digitally linked to the traveler’s passport, allowing smoother and more secure immigration processing. https://www.gov.uk/eta

Question

What should I see before the wedding?

Answer

We recommend exploring Edinburgh prior to the wedding as the Edinburgh Fringe festival runs from August 7th-31st making the city incredibly crowded and busy. However, if this is a festival you would like to explore make sure you book accommodation and food reservations beforehand as they book up quickly.

Question

What is the weather like in Scotland in August?

Answer

Slightly chilly, high of 64 F (18 C), low of 59 F (10 C). Scottish weather is famously unpredictable! Our celebration will go on rain or shine, so we recommend bringing a light rain jacket or umbrella just in case. A little drizzle only adds to the magic of a Scottish castle.

Answer

Yes. We will be providing all meals from the evening of Tuesday, August 4th to the morning of Thursday, August 6th. If staying on Drumtochty grounds, there will be full English breakfast each morning in your kitchen or kitchenette. Wedding Party and family staying in Castle will have breakfast in main kitchen. You are also welcome to bring any food with you and store them in your room!

Question

Do I have to stay at Drumtochty Castle?

Answer

If you're interested, this may be a good option so everyone can drink and be merry without having to drive, stay late as our reception ends past midnight! If you'd rather stay elsewhere because you have plans to sight see before the ceremony, need specialized accommodation, etc., the castle is only 40 minutes away from Aberdeen --a bigger city with many hotel options!
