We met online on OkCupid (while we were both going on dates with quite a few other people.) After exchanging messages for more than a month, we finally decided to meet up for drinks. Jim was late, which turned out to be unusual for him. While she was waiting, Katy ended up chatting with another stranger at the bar who was also waiting for a date. As the stranger attempted to lock down Katy's number himself, Jim walked in and strangers at bars stopped being all that interesting. Thanks to the weeks of chatting online, it felt cozy, like we already knew each other. We knew we had something special when we ordered the same beer. (Awkwardly, the hostess sat us at a table next to the stranger and his date, who arrived a bit later. Their date didn't seem to be going as well.)
