Coffee and Breakfast
Maude’s - Coffee and vintage clothing, what’s not to love! Java on Fourth - A Ketchum classic, get the Bowl of Soul coffee The Kneadery - Cozy breakfast & lunch spot. The best muffin Katie has ever had. 4 Roots - Breakfast, lunch? Healthy, indulgent? Can get it all Ginger Sweet - Smoothies, açaí bowls, and juices Starbucks - One of the most beautiful we've been to! Wrapcity - Yummy breakfast/lunch wraps for cheap!
Burgers, Breweries, and Bars
Burgers: Grumpy's - The best burger in town. Go for lunch and have a cheeseburger and a schooner of beer on their patio. A must visit Lefty's Bar and Grill - Bar food and beers with a great deck. Everything is fried; you'll probably like it Apres (a hike): TNT Taproom - Local beers, small space, and a heavy door Cellar Pub - Relaxed hangout with pub fare and draft beers Limelight Lobby/Terrace - Great local scene, typically with some live music Late(r) Night: Duchin Lounge - Buzzy piano lounge located in the Sun Valley resort. Get a martini and people watch Whiskey's on Main - The classic SV bar. Often has live music, and is open late (where our afterparty will be) Casino - Great late night dive bar with pool tables and darts Warfield - Great spot, but don't go here! See you Thursday night :)
Hikes
Sun Valley is at altitude, so please pace yourselves and remember to drink lots of water. White Clouds Trails (Easy) - 1.5 - 4.0 miles. Right across the street from the Sun Valley resort, offering great views of the Valley (and dejected golfers). Adams Gulch Trails (Moderate) - 6.0 miles. This trail sets out from Adam's Gulch Trailhead and features a gentle uphill at first and then downhill back. Along the way, you can enjoy some views across open meadows and through the woods. Baldy to Roundhouse (Moderate/Hard) - 3.9 miles. Start from the River Run Base of Bald Mountain, climbing first to a beautiful lookout over Ketchum and ending at Roundhouse. Redfish Lake: ~60 min drive north of Ketchum. BEAUTIFUL glacier lake with stunning views and great hikes. Boat rentals available. Galena Lodge: ~30 min drive north of Ketchum. Great hiking and mountain biking.
Other Activities
Sun Valley has it all! Golf: The Sun Valley Resort has 45 holes, including its marquee Trail Creek (18), the chance to play on top of a mountain White Clouds (9), and a links-style gem Elkhorn (18). For a quicker (and cheaper) round, take some hacks at the local muni, Bigwood Golf Course (9). Biking: Rent a bike and bike along the newly renovated bike path! Rent from Sturtevants or PK's. Fly Fishing: Enjoy a morning angling in Hemingway's footsteps. Rent fishing gear and/or hire a guide at Silver Creek or Lost River Outfitters in Ketchum. Rafting / Kayaking: Venture up to Stanley with White Otter to raft or kayak on the scenic Salmon River. Options for all ages and adrenaline levels - (208) 788-5005.
