Why Panzano in Chianti?

A place we returned to, and a way of celebrating that felt right

Shortly after getting engaged, we spent three months traveling through Europe, with Verona as our home base for one of them. During that time, we stumbled upon the village of Panzano in Chianti—almost by accident—but it quickly became a place we returned to again and again. We fell in love with the pace of La Pensione Vignamaggio, the long, delicious meals at Il Vescovino, and the way time seemed to slow while we were there. Though we've been engaged for several years, wedding planning didn't click right away. Life filled the space first—cross-country moves (plural), the purchase of our first home, and becoming parents to Vortex (our Boxer puppy). For a while, convenience kept winning out. Part of the hesitation was the pressure of it all—the idea that everything would need to be meticulously planned, perfectly executed, down to the minute, making the wedding feel more like a production than a true reflection of our love and what we value. We needed something that truly inspired us to shift from 'someday' into action. Then it became clear: wherever we got married needed to be a place of real significance to both of us. It needed to be somewhere we were genuinely excited to share with the people we love. Suddenly, Panzano in Chianti was the obvious choice. While in Tuscany, we visited the winery Uccelliera in Montalcino and learned something that shifted how we thought about life—and eventually, our wedding. The conditions of each year (temperature, rainfall, humidity, etc.) vary; therefore, they will not produce the same grape quality. Uccelliera embraces this variance. Rather than forcing the "desirable" outcome and potentially producing something that could sell for more but tastes substandard, they take what the earth gives them and make their wine accordingly. The vineyard's philosophy honors the land, the elements, and the patience to accept what each moment brings. That way of thinking became a quiet guide to our wedding planning—focused on presence, authenticity, and trust in the experience over tradition for tradition's sake. Our vision is for a celebration rooted in ease—a long dinner, good wine, and time to be fully present with the people we love. By gathering together in Panzano in Chianti, we're letting the place lead, allowing the weekend to unfold naturally, and savoring the moment for exactly what it is. We're so excited to experience the slower pace of life, the meals, the conversations, and the setting alongside you as we move into this next chapter of our lives.
