We found this cozy little sandwich spot (with vegetarian options) on one of our previous trips to Kiawah! The vibes are awesome, and so is the food. Plus, if you're a beer person, they carry lots of local brews so be sure to give it a try.
Right next to the Andell Inn, this "village" is a quaint, outdoor shopping center full of cute boutique stores that show off the typical SC fare. Grab a coffee and a breakfast sando at Java Java, or maybe find a book from the local bookstore.
While also the venue for our reception, the Ocean Course has a great golf course that has been home to a number of tournaments, most recently, the PGA. If you are a golf guy or gal, would recommend doing a round at this iconic course!
If you're looking for a more outdoorsy activity, head on down to Mingo Point, which throughout the year allows rentals of kayaks and paddleboards. They're a great way to pad around the island and see nature up close and personal.
Only an hour or so from Kiawah, is Charleston. If you're planning on coming in early for the wedding, we say book a room for one or two nights in Charleston to get to experience all the city has to offer! For fine dining to fine shopping, take a walk down King Street. Or if you want amazing BBQ, stop by Lewis Barbecue. Or, maybe take a moment to visit the Charleston Aquarium (Kathryn's favorite stop in Charleston and maybe all of South Carolina.)
Take a day trip to Savannah, GA! A two hour drive from Kiawah, Savannah is a beautiful historic southern city with lots of sights and things to do. They have plenty of museums (in particular, the Telfair Museums was the first public art museum in the Southern United States), loads of shopping (check out the Downton Design District which has a ton of eclectic boutiques), or some delicious local meals (City Market, the heart of Historic Savannah, has both fine dining to casual bites so you can satisfy all cravings.)
