Only in spirit (Kathryn was outvoted re: any paw-sonal appearances).
On Thursday, October 2, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, we will be hosting a Welcome Party for everyone who has made it into town at FortyEight Wine Bar and Kitchen (which is located right next to the Charleston Kiawah Island/Andell Inn). The Wedding Ceremony will take place at 5:30 PM the next day, Friday, October 3, at the Ocean Course on Kiawah, with Cocktail Hour and Reception to follow. For more details, please see the "Schedule" page of this website.
The "Travel" page provides a number of places to stay, but we recommend the Andell Inn, as that is close in proximity to the welcome dinner (walking distance), as well as where the shuttles for the ceremony and reception will be leaving from. We recommend booking a place to stay ASAP, as there are a number of other weddings on the island the same weekend as ours, and accommodations on Kiawah can be limited. To book rooms at the Andell at our discounted rate, please visit the following URL: https://www.marriott.com/event-reservations/reservation-link.mi?id=1715348710821&key=CORP&app=resvlink
All parts of the wedding will be outdoors. The Ceremony will be open air, while the Reception will be hosted under a tent.
The weather should be beautiful in October, with highs of 78 and lows of 60. There is a slight chance of rain during this time of year, but fingers crossed the day of the wedding is nice and dry! Also, as the wedding itself is on a golf course right on the ocean there is a chance it might be a little windy.
While we are happy to have kiddos at the Welcome Party, we will not be including any little ones in the Ceremony or Reception. If you need help setting up childcare the evening of the wedding, please let us know!
Plus ones are indicated on invitations.
Yes! We will have shuttles to bring guests over from the Charleston Kiawah Island/Andell Inn to the Ocean Course on the day of the wedding. The shuttles will arrive at the Andell Inn around 4:30 PM and will leave the Inn at 4:50 PM to ensure they arrive in time for the ceremony. The shuttles will then begin to depart the Ocean Course starting at 9:30 PM for those who would like to head back, with the last shuttle leaving at 11:00 PM when festivities shut down for the night. You do not need to be a guest of the Inn to use the shuttle, but the shuttles will be leaving from, and returning to, the Inn. Other than the wedding venue, the shuttles will not be making any other stops. If you do not wish to use the shuttles for whatever reason, please contact either Matt or Kathryn, and we can assist you in booking your own, separate transportation.
The Ceremony starts promptly at 5:30 PM, so please make sure to get to the venue anywhere from 5:00 to 5:30 PM so you don't miss a thing!
As noted on the "Schedule" page, the Welcome Party will be an informal event, so show up in whatever you are comfortable in. For the Ceremony/Reception, we ask that you wear typical wedding attire (collared shirts, slacks, dresses, skirts, pantsuits, etc.) but ultimately, just make sure that whatever you wear, you're ready to dance! Ties are optional. Also, the Ceremony and Reception are outside on grass, so keep that in mind for shoe choices.
Yes, other than during the ceremony! Also, please make sure to send us whatever photos you take. :)
We will have a buffet style meal, as well as beer, wine, and cocktails, available at the Welcome Party. Feel free to eat and drink as much, or as little, as you'd like, and pop in or out at any time - the Welcome Party is totally informal and meant to fit in your schedule however works best for you.
The Reception post-Ceremony will include a two course plated dinner, made up of an appetizer of caesar salad, and your choice of entrée between a selection of beef, chicken, or fish. We ask that you make your food selection when you RSVP. After dinner, there will be a dessert bar with a trio of desserts, including: mini key lime pies, mini apple crumbles, and chocolate covered strawberries. The Reception also includes an open bar.
Please indicate any allergies or dietary restrictions when you RSVP!
The art on both the invite and the save date (pictures of which are included under the Gallery tab) were painted by Kathryn's youngest sister Carly. If you want art of any kind - digital, print, oil, or even on wine glasses or shoes you should reach out to Carly :) she also has an Etsy page where she takes commissions: https://www.etsy.com/shop/CarlysCustomGoods?ref=yr_purchases
Your presence is the true gift, but if you really want to get us something, please see the "Registry" page of this website. Please no actual gifts at the wedding itself.
Then feel free to call or text Kathryn at her cell, 713-542-2314.
