Great for hiking (from casual strolls to strenuous summits) and coastal nature viewing! A beautiful 30 minute drive from San Luis Obispo.
Located about 50 minutes north of SLO along Highway 1, on the way to Big Sur. Currently closed due to COVID according to their website, but they plan to reopen in May and are now taking tour reservations. Keep your eyes peeled for the zebras they keep on the property along Highway 1!
You gotta see these big boys. Conveniently located about five miles north of Heart Castle, and on the way to Big Sur.
You can drive to the South end of Big Sur from San Luis Obispo in about 1.5 hours, and to the North end in about 2.5-3 hours. The drive is along iconic Highway 1 - a curvy cliffside road with incredible coastal views. Points of interest include Salmon Creek Falls, Sand Dollar Beach, and Pfeiffer Beach. Be sure to fill up your tank beforehand in SLO or Morro Bay.
There are tons of amazing wineries in San Luis Obispo County. Some of our favorites are Kelsey See Canyon and Baileyana in SLO, or Peachy Canyon and Shale Oak in Paso Robles.
Check out the cute casual lunch spot where we had our first date <3
This was our go-to bar in college where we spent many weekend nights (and weeknights, if we're being honest).
Come check out Morro Bay's claim to fame - a big honkin' rock. Located about 20 minutes from SLO with a huge parking lot, easily accessible walking trails along the bay, and public beach access. It may be foggy in June, but you're almost guaranteed to see sea otters in the bay!
Usually the best bet in SLO county for a sunny beach day in June.
Located just steps from the house we lived in during college, this place has delicious sandwiches, a broad selection of libations, and arcade games.
So gross but you gotta see it.
It'll be so crowded but people love the tri-tip.
