No, there is no assigned seating, with the exception for a few reserved tables for our immediate family. We want to create a relaxing, fun atmosphere, and encourage people to move around freely.
Yes, here is our room block with the Waikoloa Marriott: https://book.passkey.com/go/KyleLianaWedding2024 The room block is for May 30th - June 1st, and the Marriott will honor the group rate 3 days pre and post these dates.
We kindly ask you to RSVP as soon as possible, if you have not already. Please give us a heads up if you need more time.
We are incredibly grateful for the love and support extended to us as we begin this new chapter in our lives. Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift, and we want to express that traditional wedding presents are not necessary. However, we want to start a family soon and are planning on building a home. Any type of contribution to this would be deeply appreciated. Please see: https://www.zola.com/wedding/katase/registry
Please arrive to the ceremony early to allow yourself adequate time to park and find a seat to minimize any disruptions during the ceremony.
Yes, there is parking, but please carpool if possible.
Yes, the ceremony and reception are at the same location/venue. You will not need to drive any further once you arrive. There will be minimal walking to go between events.
The dress code is aloha attire or country formal, which in our minds means dress your best, but this is not a black tie event. Aloha shirts, long sleeve button downs, blazers, coats, boots, etc. Ladies, dresses or long flowy skirts. The reception will take place on pavement, however there is a lot of grassy area surrounding the venue, you may want to rethink wearing stilettos.
This is an outdoor wedding ceremony and reception. The reception will be under cover.
ASAP for best pricing and availability. Honu (popular half Ironman race) is Saturday, June 1st. We believe flights and accommodations could be pricier around this time. Also, please be aware of the race on the Saturday after the wedding day. It starts in the Mauna Lani, heads north to Hawi, and finishes in the Mauna Lani area.
We suggest flying in to Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keāhole (KOA).
We have a number of Hotel suggestions in our "Travel & Accommodations" section. There are a lot of AirBnb/VRBO options in Kona as well. Kona is a large area, so be sure to look on the maps when you book. The wedding venue is located in North Kona and we currently live in Kealakekua as a reference.
Keiki (kids) are absolutely welcome. We couldn't imagine this big day without them.
There are a few surf schools that operate out of Kahalu'u Beach Park, as this is one of the better places for beginners. May/June can be a slow time for waves, but we will get summer south west swells, and you might get lucky! You can find options online and please reach out to Kyle if you have any specific questions.
We are having a larger wedding, and need to be mindful of our capacity. Unless it is stated on your invitation or RSVP that you have a guest included, please refrain from bringing a date unless you have asked permission prior. Thank you for your understanding.
For our family and friends traveling from out of state - yes, Kona is warm, sunny, and beautiful. But... it does get cold (relative) in the evenings and early morning. This is just a heads up, especially if you are planning on visiting higher elevation areas (Volcanoes National Park, Mauna Kea / Mauna Loa, etc), bring appropriate clothing and shoes! Our wedding venue is at about 1500 feet elevation, and does get colder in the evenings.
We would love for all our friends from out of state to support local businesses. We do have some of the larger stores (Safeway, Costco, Target, Walmart, etc.), but want to support our local grocery stores. Here is a list: KTA, Sack N Save / Foodland, Choicemart, Matsuyamas, Island Naturals. Also, the different farmers markets we listed are all local vendors and businesses. These are great places to get gifts to bring back with you.
There are quite a few options to pick from. We have listed a number of them in our Things to Do section. Most offer manta night dives. Also, there are scuba diving options. Neither of us have our scuba certifications, but it is a common activity here on the Big Island.
