A little back story...

Liana and Kyle met on a hot summer day in August of 2019 at the Royal Kona Resort while attending a Mike Love show at Don the Beachcomber. It was a serendipitous meeting, and we both knew from the start that there was something special kindling. We've been tending that fire ever since.

Address: 71-1645 Mamalahoa Hwy., Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 The address will take you to the entrance of the Puʻuwaʻawaʻa Forest Reserve. Please be on the lookout for the turn off, where you will see a mail box stand, and a metal gate that has signs “Pu‘u Wa‘awa‘a Forest Reserve” & “Keep Gate Closed” . Follow the posted wedding signs and balloons to get the Puʻuwaʻawaʻa Estate where the wedding ceremony and reception is being held. It's about a 1.7 mile or 5-10 minute drive from the highway. Parking: The entrance to the property has a sign that says Puʻuwaʻawaʻa Ranch and you'll drive over a cattle guard. Continue driving up the driveway and take a right hand turn into the parking area. From Kailua Kona (~40 min): - From the Kailua Kona Airport – as you exit Kona International Airport at Keahole (KOA), take a right onto Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway (Hwy 19). - After less than a minute, take your first left at the light onto Ka‘iminani Drive. Follow Ka‘iminani Drive uphill 3.6 miles to the Māmalahoa Highway (Also the Belt Road, or Highway 190. - When you reach the top, take a left and drive ~ 12 miles (~20 minutes) to Mile Marker 22. - The main entrance to Pu‘u Wa‘awa‘a Forest Reserve is just after the 22 mile marker on the Māmalahoa Highway (Highway 190). You will see a mail box stand and a metal gate with signs that say: “Pu‘u Wa‘awa‘a Forest Reserve” & “Keep Gate Closed” attached to the gate. - Pull up to the gate and it will open automatically. - Stay to the right in the first fork, follow that road until the very end. From Waimea (~45 min) or Waikōloa (~40 min): - Travel South along the Māmalahoa Hwy. (Hwy. 190) - The main entrance to Pu‘u Wa‘awa‘a Forest Reserve is off of the Māmalahoa Hwy. (Hwy 190) after the town of Pu‘uanahulu. - You will pass the 21 mile marker and the Makani Country Club on your right, followed by the Pu’u Lani Ranch Subdivision on your left, and a small church. - The road then curves down the Pu‘uanahulu bluff. As soon as it straightens out at the bottom, you will see a left turn with a metal gate and a mail box stand. - The gate has signs that say: “Pu‘u Wa‘awa‘a Forest Reserve” & “Keep Gate Closed” . Pull up to the gate and it will open automatically. - Stay to the right in the first fork, follow that road until the very end. From Hilo on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Saddle Road) (~1.25 hr): - From Komohana St. take the Daniel K. Inouye Highway also known as Saddle Road. - Continue on this road for approximately 52 miles (NOTE: W. Puainako street will merge into Saddle Road (Route 200) in approximately 4.6 miles; continue on this road) until you come to the Saddle Road Junction. - Turn left onto the Māmalahoa Hwy (Hwy 190) and continue to travel south for approximately 16 miles. -You will pass the 21 mile marker, then the Makani Country Club on your right, followed by the Pu’u Lani Ranch Subdivision on your left. The road then curves down the Pu‘uanahulu bluff past a church on your left and when it straightens out at the bottom you will see a left turn with a metal automatic gate and a mail box stand (71-1645 Māmalahoa Highway, Kailua Kona, HI 96740). - The metal gate has signs that say: “Pu‘u Wa‘awa‘a Forest Reserve” & “Keep Gate Closed” attached to the gate. Pull up to the gate and it will open automatically. - Stay to the right in the first fork, follow that road until the very end.
