Karen O'BrienKaren O'Brien

Bride

The bride and star of the show, Karen, Karebear, or K. She is bubbly, kind-hearted, and grounded in strong values. She loves to read and treasures spending time with her friends and family. If given the choice, she’d happily live among the hobbits—surrounded by the comforts of home and a well-stocked library. Karen and Daniel met in the early years of middle school (though Karen remembers most of the details). What began as a rivalry between opposites quickly blossomed into a deep and lasting friendship. Karen is intelligent, compassionate, and always ready to help at a moment’s notice. She stands firm in her principles and serves as a pillar of support during difficult times. Never afraid to get her hands dirty, she’s the first to step up and do whatever it takes for the people she loves. She is someone you want with you to ride into any battle.

Daniel O'BrienDaniel O'Brien

Groom

Daniel O’Brien—Danny to loved ones, Lieutenant Dan from highschool, O’Breazy or the Majestic Basset Hound to the others on the beat, and Deputy O’Brien to those on the worst days of their lives—is a steady, comical, strong-yet-sweet man who likes to be seen as the funny guy but quietly serves as everyone’s rock. Since age two, watching Cops with his dad, he dreamed of the badge and is now proudly entering his third year as a Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Deputy. A devoted Star Wars fan, he admires the loyal brotherhood of the 501st Legion above all—the same unwavering loyalty he shows every day. When Daniel says “we should hang out sometime,” it’s genuine; “sometime” always turns into an actual date on the calendar, complete with food and games already picked out. Steadfast, warm, and quietly heroic, he is the calm in any storm and the heart everyone is lucky to have in their lives.

Rachel HamiltionRachel Hamiltion

Maid of Honor

Rachel Hamilton is Karen’s younger cousin from Buffalo, NY, and holds a truly special place in her heart. The two grew up spending their summers together in Buffalo and Little Valley, where they shared countless adventures—splashing through creeks, attending zoo camp, and cherishing time with their extended family. Alongside their other cousins, they formed a comic group called The Red Sisters, delighting (and occasionally overwhelming) their relatives with skits and karaoke performances of High School Musical and Camp Rock. Rachel is a compassionate, honest, and spirited person who loves cats, Marvel, hockey, Dungeons & Dragons, and above all, her family. As they used to sing—yes, they really did—we’re all in this together.”

Chris ErhardChris Erhard

Best Man

Chris Erhard and Dan first met at the police academy back in 2023. Their friendship began during a conversation while maintaining the obstacle course, a moment that marked the start of a lifelong bond. From that day on, they knew they’d be best friends. After graduating from the academy, they returned to their respective agencies, but their friendship never wavered. To this day, Chris and Dan continue to support one another, always showing up when it matters most. Their connection stands as a testament to loyalty, brotherhood, and the kind of friendship that lasts a lifetime, making Chris the perfect choice for best man. Chris is the kind of guy that will answer any call and support others in a drop of a hat. Someone who comes over and never questions what the host wants to do. He is very patient as he listens and provides advice. So Chris is someone you can rely on for honest and constructive feedback.

Bridesmaid

Elizabeth O’Brien is Karen’s younger sister and an incredibly hardworking, sharp, and creative young woman. Even as a child, she took center stage in Red Sisters productions, always ready with a flair for drama and a big imagination. Today, she channels that same charisma and dedication into her work and her friendships, striving to make a difference in the lives of those around her—no surprise she’s a proud Swiftie. Elizabeth is passionate about her career in social work, a devoted dog mom to her sweet Dachshund-Beagle mix, Molly, and has even dabbled in modeling. Whether in front of the camera or behind the scenes, her attention to detail shines—if something looks especially perfect at the wedding, chances are Elizabeth had a hand in it.

Known for his quick wit and perfectly timed jokes, he has a talent for making anyone laugh—even causing strangers to do a double take. A former football player with a passion for fitness, the gym has long been his second home—when he's not analyzing playoff probabilities or cracking up the room, that is. Mathew and Daniel share countless memories: swapping gym routines, late-night Star Wars Battlefront marathons, and, of course, a lifelong tradition of teasing their endlessly patient mom. Recently, Mathew transferred to VCU to pursue a business degree, taking the next step in his journey while keeping his signature laid-back, dependable spirit. At his core, Mathew is someone you can count on—always ready to help, always ready to laugh.

Their friendship deepened over a shared love of Jane Austen, a mutual background in psychology, and a deep appreciation for the quiet strength it takes to be a police wife. Sherri has always been a steady, nurturing presence in Karen’s life. Even just after having her daughter Sophia, she was right there supporting Karen through her post-surgery recovery. A proud Randolph-Macon alum from Ashland, Virginia, Sherri is also the loving mom of Sophia and Logan, and someone who finds joy in trying new recipes in the kitchen. She and Karen love to geek out over Beauty and the Beast, Pride and Prejudice, and all things Harry Potter. With a big heart and a determined spirit, Sherri brings kindness and calm to every room she walks into.

A passionate Broadway enthusiast and die-hard Buffalo Bills fan who cheers through every season, Kathy brings infectious energy to everything. Over time, they grew close and have continued to spend time together weekly ever since. From watching their favorite shows to playing online games like Call of Duty: Zombies, Dan and Jeff have shared countless memories. They've also kept up the tradition of hitting Buffalo Wild Wings for Boneless Thursdays. Jeff is the kind of guy who’s consistent, honest, and laid-back—the ultimate chill friend. He’s the one who helped Dan move into three different apartments and is always down to hang out, leaving them with plenty of life experiences and adventures to look back on.

Deborah "Debbie" O'BrienDeborah "Debbie" O'Brien

Deborah “Debbie” O’Brien is Karen’s aunt from Buffalo, NY, and one of the main reasons Karen turned into such a proud nerd. It all started when Debbie gifted a young, just-learning-to-read Karen a set of used Harry Potter books—a present that ignited a lifelong love of reading and all things nerd culture. Debbie generously shared her passion for board games with the family, turning game nights into cherished new traditions, and together with Uncle John, she kicked off the family’s beloved Dungeons & Dragons sessions. Sweet, kind, and endlessly patient, she spent years working in a high school theater sound department, fine-tuning cues while happily introducing the young cousins to classics like The Muppets and modern gems like Spirited Away. Her gentle encouragement and shared wonders helped shape Karen’s imagination and heart. Debbie’s warmth, creativity, and quiet magic can be heard in the air throughout the wedding party!

They first met when Sebastian started joining the squad on Fridays, and the two quickly grew close—so much that Dan became an honorary member of the Switzer family. Together, they’ve shared countless adventures and supported each other through both joyful and challenging times, building a bond as strong as any friendship can be. Sebastian is the kind of person who can light up a room with his fun-loving and goofy energy, bringing excitement and positivity wherever he goes. He’s someone you can rely on for deep, meaningful conversations—stoic, brave, and always ready to take on any challenge life throws his way.

Timothy "Tim" O'BrienTimothy "Tim" O'Brien

Father of the Bride

Timothy “Tim” O’Brien is Karen’s dad and honestly one of the largest-than-life humans to ever exist—conjure him at your own risk. For Bills games, the gigantic buffalo hat, jersey, cape, full face paint, and the handmade drum (mallet included) that he and Karen built together almost twenty years ago. He’s a walking archive of facts, and he and Karen go full nerd on history—annual trips from Yorktown reenactments to literally spraining ankles in the ruins of Pompeii. Everyone says Karen looks just like her mom… until she opens her mouth, and then it’s “yeah, you’re definitely your dad’s kid.” You’ll spot (or hear) him at the wedding even without the face paint- how's your 80s references?

His steady guidance and encouragement have been present throughout Daniel’s life. Today, he celebrates not only his son’s accomplishments, but also the love and partnership Daniel has found.
