Question

What are the current Covid-19 protocols in place for International travel?

Answer

As of March 2022, all Covid-19 travel restrictions are removed for entrance into Ireland. You no longer need to complete a passenger locator form. You also no longer need proof of vaccination or recovery, or a Covid-19 test. We recommend following the latest guidelines available at ie.usembassy.gov/author/usmissionireland/ as you plan your travels. (If you are traveling elsewhere from Ireland, we also strongly recommend reviewing all Covid-19 protocols for countries traveled to). As of June 2022, CDC will no longer require air passengers traveling from a foreign country to the United States to show a negative Covid-19 viral test or documentation of recovery from Covid-19 before they board their flight. For most recent guidelines at time of travel, we recommend visiting, cdc.gov. We strongly recommend you bring proof of vaccination (if you have it), and a mask as some privately held venues can require guests to wear when in public spaces. Our venue does not require either. This is simply a recommendation for consideration.

Question

Is it customary to tip in Ireland?

Answer

It's always nice to tip for exceptional service (especially since we are accustomed to it!), however, in Ireland there is not a set code of conduct for tipping like there is in the States. It's more of a personal preference based on your experience with said service. However, it's always a celebrated and much appreciated gesture.

Question

Is it easy to get around once I am there?

Answer

Yes! If you are flying into Dublin, Conyngham Arms Hotel is about a 45 minute drive just north outside of the city. Taxis are available at the airport. Or, if you choose to rent a car at the airport and drive to Slane, you won't have to deal with city drivers (mainly highway until you get off at the village exit). If you are planning to arrive early and spend a few days in Dublin prior to the wedding, you can also consider taking the Collins Coach (think greyhound) from Dublin city centre right into Slane (Chapel St. stop). I've done this before and it's fairly easy! It's 11 euro pp and you pay on the bus. They offer under bus storage for your luggage. It is the N2 Route Dublin to Slane. To view timetables: https://collinscoaches.ie/timetables/. Lastly, you can request any hotel reception or restaurant to call a taxi for you. There's never a long wait! You can pay taxis with cash or card.

Question

Do women wear fascinator hats to an Irish wedding?

Answer

Some do! But we're Americans getting married in Ireland and nobody is going to be upset if you leave yours behind to spare some extra packing space. In all seriousness though, we have been asked this question a handful of times. if you wish to wear a fascinator feel free, but this is not a requirement for our guests.

Question

If my passport expires within 3 months of my travel plans, do I need to renew it prior to traveling?

Answer

You most definitely do! We highly recommend the sooner you are able to renew your passport the better. You can renew your passport at certain post office locations or FedEx stores. If you have proper documentation, you can also renew online by visiting https://travel.state.gov/.

Question

What are some things (generally speaking) I should remember to pack?

Answer

We'll leave the list prep to you, but please remember that the wall sockets are different in Ireland / the UK and the voltage differs as well. Be sure to bring a UK / Ireland power adapter for the outlets. Another reminder, late Spring / early Summer weather is cooler in Ireland - average temps can vary from 60F to 75F. So be sure to pack a light jacket - and an umbrella!

Question

If I plan on golfing, where is the closest course, and how do I schedule tee times?

Answer

Both Royal Tara Golf Club and Bellewstown Golf Club are located in county Meath and are the closest courses to Conyngham Arms Hotel (each located about 20 minutes away from our venue). To book tee times, please visit the "visitors" tab on each respective website for scheduling information. We highly recommend booking with ample time in advance of your planned travel.

Question

Where will I be able to eat or purchase last minute needs when in Slane?

Answer

Slane is a very small village (that's what we love about it's charm!). If you are staying in the village or nearby, we recommend booking any lunch/dinner reservations 2-4 weeks ahead of your stay. Dinner reservations can be made at Conyngham Arms, Inside Out, or Village Inn (serves food until 4pm). There is a deli, bakery, coffee shop, two pubs, and a convenience store all in town within walking distance of one another. Additionally there are a few boutiques - antiques, clothing, art, and gifts. It is a one intersection town and once there, you will be able to travel everywhere by foot (so bring some good walking shoes!). For reservations: (note Village Inn does not have a website) Conyngham Arms: https://www.conynghamarms.ie/menus/ Inside Out: https://www.insideoutslane.ie/
