It's a love story...

Julia and Jacob met in 2017 in the hallowed halls of the John Glenn College of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University where Julia was leading a tour of admitted students, and Jacob was among them. When the tour concluded, Jacob was nudged by his mom to get Julia’s number, his father told Julia that Jacob would be going to Michigan, and she told him (respectfully) that they would see about that. Fast forward, and Jacob did in fact choose to attend Ohio State, sending Julia the now famous text that summer: “Hi Julia, my name’s Jacob Spiegel, not sure if you remember me but my mom made me get your number (jewish moms amirite) anyway, I decided to go to OSU (woohoo!) and I was wondering …” The two ended up living on the same floor the next year, and became friends through student government and studying late into the night in their common room. Jacob however, was already playing the long game, unbeknownst to Julia. As early as October, 2017, he told his friends he was going to marry her, and found sneaky ways to continue to spend time with her and talk to her whenever he could. Without understanding quite why yet, Julia was drawn to Jacob, feeling at ease in his presence and gravitating towards him at every turn. Their relationship began to shift the next year. One night, sitting on the porch of Julia’s sorority house, swathed in moonlight, Jacob told Julia he wanted to marry her. They had spent the last three hours sitting on this porch, talking the night away. He was flirting of course, but his earnestness was palpable. She thought he was kidding, but a small part of her knew it was true, and the future clicked into place, a puzzle piece so obvious you can’t believe you missed it before. As their relationship began, they became inseparable, and their world’s expanded and transformed into brilliant technicolor. They kissed between classes and laughed until they thought they might die, and they began to grow up together. In each other, they found the person who understood the language of their soul and song of their heart. The two continued to grow together, each graduating college and eventually Jacob moved in with Julia back in Columbus. They worked on campaigns, drank cheap beer in dimly lit dive bars, laughed with their friends, travelled the world, moved to DC and danced in the kitchen. Eventually, in November of 2023, Jacob proposed to Julia on a hike in Shenandoah National Park, just days before their 5th anniversary. It was the easiest answer to any question Julia had ever been asked, like it had been on the tip of her tongue since that night on the porch. Their love extends beyond the two of them, enveloping their families and friends and encircling everyone they love in a shimmering golden light. This wedding is a love letter to everyone who has been a part of their story, and the beautiful future before them.
