How we Met

2013

We met at a college graduation party in May 2013. It wasn't until later on that we found a picture of Alice with some mutual friends from a couple of years prior with Julian in the background of the picture. Our paths had crossed previously, but we had never met. A couple of months later after a summer vacation apart, we decided to make it official August 4th. Then 7 years later, here we are!

Proposal

2019

Julian and I were going to take a quick daytrip up to Wichita Falls. When we were still in Denton he mentioned needing to stop at the Denton Square to pick up a check. (That's musician code for "just got paid"), I tag along on the walk up to The Square. As we walk up to the courthouse and toward Oak St. He points out what we call "our bench." (We coined it our bench before we dated. I had a late nursing shift and he had a late music gig that night and we were both leaving TX for the summer the next day. Everything was closed, so we sat on that bench talking until 4am.) The bench was covered in flowers and that's where he proposed. Behind the scenes, we had Julian's brother Drew, honorary bench decorator and photographer. Also Julian's friend Devin was our surprise sax man. He played my favorite jazz song "Emily." We had one stranger that had a front seat to it all, literally a couple feet away, so a little awkward, but very Denton nonetheless. After the proposal, we stopped by Julian's barbershop across the street where they all watched it go down, then to Barley and Board for a celebratory lunch, and finally to Harvest House to enjoy the day.

For all the days along the way
