Bumble. We met on bumble. we're so modern.

16 September 2020. After connecting on Bumble, we elected to take an evening hike to picnic atop East Rock Park in New Haven. We immediately hit it off, and the picnic went so well we extended the date into dinner at Zinc Restaurant, then a nightcap of Calvados on Andrew's balcony. Jules may have grazed on some of his fresh herb garden, which Andrew found strangely endearing. We ended the evening with a midnight stroll around the New Haven Green, where we continued to extend the walk to avoid saying goodbye. We were immediately taken with each other, so, for our second date, we did something completely normal and not at all jumping the gun: Andrew came to Mystic for the entire weekend. We visited the Mystic Aquarium, went for a stroll along the coastline (Andrew's first time touching the Atlantic), did a corn maze, and enjoyed a romantic dinner at The Oyster House. We concluded the weekend enjoying a drizzly Sunday afternoon at The Windjammer reading with the dulcet sounds of ocean waves crashing underfoot.

July 2, 2022. It was a remarkably unremarkable Sunday along the Connecticut shoreline. 85 degrees and sunny. Not a cloud in the sky. We spent the day tending to our vegetable garden, went for a leisurely swim in Long Island Sound, enjoyed lobster rolls at Abbott's, and came home as dusk was falling. We settled into our Adirondack chairs with a glass of wine while neighbors began shooting off fireworks, being as it was almost Independence Day. At that moment, Jules was overwhelmed with happiness, so she grabbed Andrew's hand, dragged him under the cucumber trellis in their vegetable garden, and proposed. To her relief, Andrew said yes.
