Officiant
Emma has been in both of our lives as a friend since the start of medical school and as a roommate since May of 2018. When considering who we wanted to officiate our wedding, Emma really stood out as someone who inspires the two of us as a kind and wise soul who sees the best in other people. She is kind-hearted and loving. And as a good friend to both of us as individuals, we feel like she also has good insight into our relationship as a couple. We are deeply honored that she will be the Officiant for our wedding.
Flower Girl
Brooke is Jessica's niece and will be honoring us as the flower girl for our ceremony. She already has so much personality, that I am sure she will bring a lot of character into her role.
Best Woman
Jordan's little sister - Charlotte and I spent many years annoying each other and focusing on what divided us. Now we have started focusing on what brings us closer together - like railing against the patriarchy and eating pizza. I could not ask for a more artistic, whimsical, centered sister to be my guide on my wedding day!
Matron of Honor
Jessica's little sister - Heather and I are very close in age, which tormented us when we were younger! But as we have gotten older, it has really been a blessing to have someone in my life that knows our past and can help me navigate being an adult--because she has truly become the more adultier adult between the two of us. I am so blessed to have such an amazing sister and am so honored that she will be my Matron of Honor on my wedding day.
Bridesmaid
Jordan's Bridesmaid - Lara and I have hiked, biked, danced, and talked our way through medical school together, having met in our first year. She brings levity and joy to our friendship, as well as an adventurous spirit that keeps me on my toes. One of my favorite memories with Lara is zooming down a dirt road, both of our bodies half out of the car sunroof, belting "Alive" by Sia. I am so lucky to have her in my life!
Bridesmaid
Jessica's Bridesmaid--So I moved to Mount Vernon halfway through my freshman year of high school. Vaani and I met through a mutual friend and on our first friend date, we made sure that we stepped into every single store at the Burlington Mall! After high school, we both went to UW, and though there were times Vaani was out of the country (she's travel-sized!), we mostly lived very close to one another and often spent time together! We also got to be camp counselors together, and commiserated over our tempermental 8 year old campers--while making cool friendship bracelets and getting covered in whipped cream! Since undergrad, we have truly made our friendship a priority--no matter where we are--which I value deeply. I am honored that Vaani will join me as a bridesmaid on my wedding day.
Bridesmaid
Jordan's Bridesmaid - Aniqa and I met my first year of undergrad, and we struck it off immediately as two similar small, passionate balls of energy. We became roommates my second year (with Sarah), and shared many long deep conversations about the nature of life (with Marty) and dress up/dancing escapades. Her intellect and idea-filled mind keep me riveted whenever we chat, and I am so lucky to have her as a buddy.
Bridesmaid
Jessica's Bridesmaid--Tai and I met in New Jersey, despite each of us being from Washington and both attending the UW. Fate deemed that we were meant to meet and though it took awhile for me to win over Tai, its safe to say that Tai is here to stay. Tai has been an incredible inspiration, from her slam poetry (its amazing--google 'Mother of Dragons' slam poetry) and her English skills (she has corrected several of my medical school essays at this point--she's such a nerd), to her incredible passion for justice. I am incredibly lucky to have Tai in my life and am deeply honored she will be one of my bridesmaids.
Bridesmaid
Jordan's Bridesmaid - In 7th grade, Jordan dumped Tanya's books all over the floor of Ms. Petrich's history classroom in a move that sealed their friendship. They spent countless hours throughout middle and high school singing Pirates of the Caribbean, spinning each other at dances, and obsessing over Leonardo DiCaprio (although that was mostly Jordan). Even though Jordan abandoned Tanya during their senior year for Egypt, with no discussion about colleges, they ended up at 2 women's colleges within 10 miles of each other in Massachusetts. Jordan feels so honored and privileged to have Tanya in her life, and as a bridesmaid!
Bridesmaid
Jessica's Bridesmaid--Amy and I met during our first week of medical school and have been good friends ever since. From wild (ish) nights at the Wild Rose to studying in a secluded cabin on Friday Harbor for our ridiculous medical exams, we have kept each other sane and only mildly drove each other mad. I am always impressed with Amy's passion and care for her friends and family, and am happy to have gained such a good friend during my medical school career.
