Things To Do

Reading Terminal Market

Reading Terminal Market

51 North 12th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107
, (215) 922-2317

You can sample your way through Pennsylvania eats - cheesesteaks, roast pork, soft pretzels, apple dumplings, scrapple - at this historic indoor food market. Ali's great-great-grandparents also operated a stand here in the early 1900s. We recommend: Beiler's donuts.

Spruce Street Harbor Park

Spruce Street Harbor Park

301 South Christopher Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19106
, (215) 922-2386

Have drinks on the floating dock, lounge on the hammocks, and enjoy one of the best views of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. We recommend: The big chess board.

Philadelphia City Hall

Philadelphia City Hall

1400 John F Kennedy Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19107
, (215) 686-1776

Philadelphia is home to the largest (and we argue most beautiful) city hall in the United States. You can also book ahead to visit the City Hall tower for a great view of the city. We recommend: Dilworth Park.

East Passyunk Avenue

East Passyunk Avenue

East Passyunk Avenue, Philadelphia, PA

We love calling South Philly home and East Passyunk is one of the many reasons why. This walkable corridor is full of great restaurants, bars, shops, and pocket parks. We recommend: Brigentessa for dinner followed by the Pub on Passyunk East (POPE) for drinks. This was exact combo of our second date.

Fishtown

Fishtown

1210 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19125

This neighborhood is home to a growing number of restaurants, bars, music venues, and galleries. Start with BBQ at Fette Sau and work your way up Frankford Avenue beer halls and breweries. We recommend: Frankford Hall and Evil Genius.

The Italian Market

The Italian Market

Philadelphia, PA 19147
, (215) 278-2903

Made famous by Rocky running montages, this neighborhood is the heart of Philadelphia's Italian community + home to many of the city's best Mexican restaurants. We recommend: South Philly Barbacoa for tacos followed by a cannoli from Termini Brothers.

Museum of the American Revolution

Museum of the American Revolution

101 South 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106
, (215) 253-6731

Philadelphia's newest major museum. We visited together on a staycation last year. We were both impressed by the diversity and gritty honesty of the museum. We recommend: The Oneida Nation exhibit.

Philadelphia Museum of Art

Philadelphia Museum of Art

2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19130
, (215) 763-8100

Also made famous by the Rocky movies, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is home to 240,000 objects. We recommend: The Kiss by Constantin Brancusi.

Barnes Foundation

Barnes Foundation

2025 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19130
, (215) 278-7000

The Barnes is an eclectic private collection turned stunning museum. The museum's "wall ensembles" methodology mixes paintings alongside hand-wrought iron, jewelry, and antique furniture. We recommend: The Pennsylvania Dutch folk art and the pole arms.

The Franklin Institute

The Franklin Institute

222 North 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103
, (215) 448-1200

Named after Philadelphia's most famous inventor, the Franklin Institute is a science museum and science education center. We recommned: The giant pendullum + walking through the giant heart.

Honey's Sit 'N Eat

Honey's Sit 'N Eat

2101 South Street, Philadelphia, PA 19146
, (215) 732-5130

Our favorite brunch spot in the city. Go early to beat the rush. We recommend: The latkes.
