Quimby's

The Wedding Website of Jason Polen and Cooper Warner
Quimby Country is nestled in the Northeast Kingdom--quite far north--on the Canadian border in fact. Quimby's is a Warner family tradition; the Warner's have been coming to Quimby's for generations. Cooper's great-grandfather brought her grandfather here in the early Quimby days. Cooper's grandfather then followed suit with her father, aunt, and uncle. Cooper's dad continued the tradition of visiting Quimby's every summer and passed on his love for the place to Cooper. It's in the Warner blood! Here are a few iconic spots on Quimby's property--many of which you may frequent during your stay.

The Lodge

Quimby's Lodge

Quimby Country is a rare, surviving example of an early 20th century sportsman’s camp. Its Lodge and many of its cottages are more than 100 years old. Inside the lodge, you'll find many things, but a few highlights are the dining room, fireplace, checker board, and photo albums galore. If you start at 1991 and count up, you'll likely catch glimpses of baby, kid, and pre-teen Cooper. Feel free to post up on the porch with a book or a pair of binoculars and rock the afternoon away.

Forest Lake

For doing things on, not in

Whether you want to look at its beauty from afar, sitting on a colored bench, or in a creaky row boat, Forest Lake is a beauty. It's not uncommon to hear loons singing their beautiful songs throughout the day. For you fisher-people, feel free to cast a line and see what kind of trout (or logs) you can reel in.

Quimby Cabins

Your Home Away from Home

While the cabin interiors still look as they did in the 1930's, modern amenities such as hot running water, electricity, and full baths have been added over the years. Some cabins even have full kitchens. All have at least a small refrigerator, a working wood stove, and, of course, porches with rocking chairs overlooking Forest Lake. Once you're at Quimby's you'll notice every cabin has a unique name: they're all named after fly fishing flies.

The Rock

Lobster Cookout & Ceremony Site

Follow the dirt path behind the lodge for about 10 minutes and you'll find yourself at "the Rock." Here, you can dunk in the crystal clear and often chilly Big Averill Lake water. Swim out to the dock and see how good your cannonball can be--if you dare. There are SUP's available, sunfishes too! The trail to Sandy Beach starts just before the Rock, and is a treasured memory for all QC go-ers.

The Clubhouse

Reception Site/Place of Fun

AKA Nevin Brugger Hall. The Clubhouse was the go-to on a rainy, summer day, or on Bingo night, or on Squaredance night. In the Clubhouse, you can find art crafts galore, a ping pong table, and shuffleboards. Cooper and Jason's wedding reception will be held here.

The Benches

Can you find them all?

At Quimby's, there are several colored benches--5 in total. Have a look and see if you can find them all!
