**EDIT: It's looking like all of us are already fully vaccinated (nobody told us they weren't), but Delta is scary. We will try and keep as many activities outside as we can. Anyone who wants to get tested prior to coming, we 100% support you. Anyone who wants to wear a mask and not partake in any indoor activities, we support you.** Right now, as we draft this answer, COVID is still very much a threat to our health and safety. We will be updating this as it gets closer to the wedding.
Cooper's family tradition was to spend a week at Quimby's every summer in late August. It's her favorite place in the world!
No, not for Friday through Monday; WE are organizing all accommodations for these 3 nights. We will be assigning you to cabins that you will find out upon your arrival. If you RSVP, then we will expect you to stay these 3 nights unless you tell us otherwise. (Please don't tell us otherwise.) We have booked Quimby's out for this period. If you want to stay at Quimby's for longer than Friday-Monday, then you're more than welcome and highly encouraged to. We've negotiated a discounted rate and will provide more information on how to book these nights at the discounted rate, so get in touch with us.
IN ADDITION to your travel costs in getting to Quimby's, guests should plan to pay $375 per person for Friday-Monday. This price includes accommodations from Friday through Monday regardless of whether you're staying until Monday and all food and drinks. IMPORTANTLY, Quimby's only accepts payment by cash or check. You will be asked to pay upon your arrival/check in. Quimby's staff will have a spreadsheet showing your name and the total amount owed. Those of you who paid deposits will "see" that reflected in the amount owed to Quimby's.
There is no one airport that is the best and there are several options (see our Travel tab for more info). Montreal is technically the closest, but there is a border crossing to take into account and, at this point, we can't enter Canada... Burlington's the next closest airport and Burlington's a fun place to explore if you are making a true vacation out of this trip. Boston's the biggest airport, likely with lots of flight options, but not exactly close. Here are some approximate travel times to Quimby's: Montreal, Canada: ~2 hours, 20 minutes; Burlington, VT: ~2 hours, 35 minutes; Augusta, ME: ~3 hours driving; Portland, ME: ~3 hours, 15 minutes; Manchester, NH: ~3 hours, 15 minutes; Boston, MA: ~4 hours; Hartford, CT: ~4.5 hours; Providence, RI: ~5.5 hours; NYC: ~7 hours; and Portland, OR: ~45 hours (wink). Check out the travel tab for more information!
Only if their name is on your invitation; please don't add their name either. Quimby's accommodations are LIMITED, so we have planned accordingly; it's not personal. If you aren't sure, please ask us before assuming one way or another. Thank you in advance for understanding.
(Edit: Drafted when we used to travel freely, unmasked, and without COVID concerns.) We have created a Google sheet that we'd like guests to complete and refer back to. Keeping all of our carbon footprints small is important to us. On this sheet you'll find places to write where you're coming from, how much room you have in your car, when you're planning to leave for Quimby's, etc. Thank you in advance for respecting us, and Mother Earth. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yttTFH1fBD0HyGRsBzcocWEmarfiiyFVu8wm2YSbZKE/edit?usp=sharing
**EDIT: We have sent out a packing list via email. It's also on our Instagram, @jooperwedding.** We recommend you look at the events page to determine what items you'll need. If you plan to hike, bike, or paddle, please bring appropriate clothing to do those activities comfortably. Please also note: It gets COLD at night. Bring a jacket, even if you're looking at this and dying of heat in a metropolitan city. (Does anyone live in one of those anymore?) A more detailed packing list will be sent to guests as the weekend approaches.
Mother Nature appropriate, which means look at the forecast for Averill, VT and plan accordingly. In addition, please be sure to bring a plaid shirt for Sunday night and something semi+ formal to wear for the wedding ceremony. While we ultimately want everyone to wear what they feel best in, please consider something other than black. Ladies, we recommend thinking about your dress length and footwear and choose something that will work in grass, on sand-ier surfaces, and dirt paths. Stilettos will not be your best friend.
Yes; PLEASE DO! The first dining event (Friday night) has a place where you can indicate your food allergies and/or special needs or requests. All diet needs will be catered to to the best of our/Quimby's ability.
There is no cell service at Quimby's. Again, there is no cell service at Quimby's. Please prepare--logistically, mentally, emotionally--for this. Quimby's main lodge has wifi so you will not be totally off grid for the entirety of the weekend. However, please plan accordingly--OOO's, letting loved ones know, telling your IG followers. Quimby's phone number is (802) 822-5533. Share this with others if you think you will need to be reached or want an emergency contact.
Quimby's address is on your invitation. Hello, Google Maps/Waze/Maps. Importantly, please note: Have your directions loaded at least a half hour out from Quimby's since cell reception may get spotty. Do you know you can even pre-download your directions? See this link for more info. This includes you, Mom. https://support.google.com/maps/answer/6291838?co=GENIE.Platform%3DiOS&hl=en
ASAP; though, you may not be able to get access to your cabin until 3pm. Drinks (margs) and dinner (tacos) will begin at approximately 5:30pm.
After turning right at the Quimby's sign, drive all the way down the road until you reach the lodge. The lodge is the big yellow building on the front of our invitation. Once at the lodge, if you are not swarmed by an over excited jumping bean named Cooper, please pop your head into the lodge and ask for Gene or Lilly (Devlin). The Devlin's will direct you to your cabin, which you will be able to drive to for unloading purposes. You'll also be pointed in the direction of where to park your car. Please drive slowly since there may be dogs running around off-leash.
Cooper and Jason; we're not having a wedding party. Brianna Madia will be our celebrant.
Trick question! The ceremony, accommodations, and all activities will be at Quimby Country. There will be no need to arrange travel during the wedding weekend. The only travel logistics you'll need to take care of is flights (if applicable) and getting to Quimby's. We've got the rest taken care of!
Gene and Lilly Devlin (husband and wife) are the managers of Quimby's. If you have any questions while at Quimby's, they will be a wonderful and accessible resource. Heidi is our day-of planner. She will be around on Saturday and if you have any logistical questions, she's the best person to ask before coming to Jooper. If Heidi's not around, find Kara or Cecilia.
You will need to be out of your cabins by noon, but you'll be welcome to stay on Quimby property for as long as your schedule allows on Monday.
Quimby's is remote. Let us repeat. Quimby's is remote. Please prepare, as best you can, to have everything you need by the time you arrive at Quimby's, including GAS! However, there is a small, country store just down the road called the Lake View Store.
You can expect margaritas on Friday, beer/cider/wine on Saturday night, and the same on Sunday. If you like your margaritas particularly strong, a vodka cocktail at 5:00, are particular about your cabernet, or want to sip on something not listed, then please bring it + mixers with you. There will be a cooler full of ice that you can bring back to your cabins. Heads up/reminder: booze is tax free in New Hampshire. If you're passing through NH on your way, it may not be a bad idea to stock up on your favorites. The closest liquor store from Quimby's (in NH) is about a half hour away. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available all weekend too, of course!
Predominantly plant based. Friday night will be tacos. Sunday night will be lobster (not vegetarian, we know)--but a Quimby tradition. Veggie options will be available and prominent so please plan on this. Bring snacks if you think you'll starve or not have enough... protein......
Hard to predict. Generally, in the Northeast Kingdom, days are warm and nights are cool. Rain happens too. The average high in August is around 72 degrees. The average low in August is around 47 degrees. On September 4, 2020, the high was 70 degrees and the low was 53 degrees.
Probably! Quimby's is a dog friendly environment. If you would like to bring your 4-legged(s), please kindly ask Cooper and Jason first since they'll need to see how Winston feels about it.
Before and after: OK. During: FORBIDDEN. Cooper and Jason have hired a wonderful photographer, Jacquelyn Potter. Please don't be THAT person. All photos will be shared with guests electronically once Cooper and Jason get access. Jacquelyn's IG handle: @jacquelynpotter
Band. Get ready to dance, party people!
