September 30th, 2020. We had agreed to meet at a restaurant we discovered was a mutual favorite, Little Dom's. During this time, you could still go to restaurants outdoors, but there was no "meeting for a drink"—you had to sit down and have a meal. Slightly terrifying if you end up not liking the person. When we first saw each other in front of the restaurant we were both wearing masks, which made for an indelible first impression. But once we were seated, we had our meal and some drinks and everything just flowed easily and well. That date led to another, and then another, and before we knew it, we were working from home at each other's apartments, watching an insane number of movies together, and talking about things we wanted to do after the pandemic was over. Cut to the week before Christmas last year, when we escaped to Idyllwild as a local substitute for our ill-fated Alpine Christmas trip to Austria (which we had to cancel because one of us (Stacey) got COVID), Brett sprung his proposal on a completely surprised Stacey. She was so verklempt he had to ask, "So is that a yes?". (It was.) (She later asked him, "Were you worried I would say no?" To which he responded, "No." The confidence!) And here we are, ready to celebrate our love with our favorite people.
