February 14, 2021 Blue Ridge, GA 💍
The day: August 4th 2018. The place: Ardent Brewery in Richmond, Virginia. Alicia Rice sat across from Alyssa sipping on a cool IPA. It was hot that day. The sun was beating down on everyone like a chef beats eggs. Before she got there, Alicia had purchased a ticket to the “Brewhaha” at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture along with her close friend Alyssa. On most weekends, Alicia would head up to DC and see her group of friends up there. This weekend she had decided to stay local. As they sat chatting, a mysterious man approached them. “Oh hi! Alicia – meet my friend John.” “Hi, John!” Alicia said with a big smile. “Howdy,” John replied. They starting talking about anything and everything. After Ardent, they continued on to the “Brewhaha” where they got free drinks and eventually ended up at Three Monkeys, a local bar. They closed out the bar talking that night. :end scene: It wasn’t until the following January, Alicia was moving into a new apartment and Alyssa talked her into going to Gus’ after a strenuous day of lifting furniture and boxes. It was an NFL playoff game and the Chiefs (Alicia’s family team) were playing. John ended up being there as well. They again hit it off. John ended up finally getting Alicia’s phone number that night by asking her to start a Skee Ball Team. From there on out, Alicia and John became closer. They started cooking together, watching movies, traveling, going on wedding dates, hiking, playing board games, reading books, playing video games, and the list goes on… John didn’t just fall in love with Alicia; he also fell in love with her chocolate lab, Kona. Alicia feels blessed every single day that she has someone in her life who makes her laugh with “dad jokes”, mainly puns. John brings the best out of her with new experience and, most importantly, love. Going through a pandemic, they could not have found better partners to quarantine with. Alicia is very happy she stayed in Richmond that one weekend to meet her person.
