FAQs

We are happy to answer any other questions you may have!
Question

What is the dress code for Saturday?

Answer

Black tie. Break out the tux and gown, or your best formal evening wear. Please note that there is a minimum dress code at the Olympic Club as follows: "Suits or sport coats with ties for men and similar appropriate attire for women must be worn at all times. All types of denim are prohibited at any time for either men or women. For gentlemen, tucked in collared shirts are required at all times." We appreciate your compliance!

Question

Will childcare be available?

Answer

Unfortunately it will not be feasible at the reception venue to provide childcare for your young ones. However, we will do our best to help connect you with reliable sitters in the area. While Saturday events are adults only, we'd love to meet your kids at the Sunday brunch! Kids are welcome on Friday, too.

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

Parking can be difficult and pricey in San Francisco. We recommend taking a Lyft or Uber around, particularly if city driving isn't your thing. If you are looking for a more economical ride from the airport, BART can take you from the airport into downtown. If you plan to take an excursion outside of the city, you may want to rent a car, or if you would just prefer to drive between the venues, which are about 10 miles (30 minutes) apart. Please plan for a safe ride after the reception!

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

The ceremony and reception are in different parts of town, about 10 miles apart. Allow about 30 minutes to get between venues. There is street parking (both metered and not metered) in the surrounding neighborhood of the church, but allow extra time to park and plan to walk up to a few blocks. There will be plenty of free valet parking at the Olympic Club Lakeside.

Question

What does Black Tie mean?

Answer

The simple answer is to think of it like going to prom: tuxedos for men, formal gowns for women. This is a nice resource for women: https://www.brides.com/story/black-tie-wedding-guest-dress-code-long-gowns For men who are travelling, we recommend The Black Tux. They will deliver the tuxedo to you 14 days before, so you don't have to worry about picking up a rental locally. https://theblacktux.com/collection/suits-tuxedos
