It's Halloween in 2012. A Wednesday. Bethany decides to go out for Halloween at the last minute, and asks a couple gals she met the weekend prior what they are up to? "We're going to a house party, you should come with us," they say. So, she does. She shows up to the party where she barely even knows the people she came with, and goes to the kitchen to grab a drink. A cute guy in a labcoat reaches out his hand: "Hi. I'm Joel," he says. Joel explains his costume - Dr. Horrible, from Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog - and Bethany is the only person at the party who knows who Dr. Horrible is. Bethany is The Incredible Hulk, which needs no explanation, but has awesome Hulk gloves. Joel and Bethany chat in the kitchen for a very long time. Trying not to look too eager, Bethany goes off to grab some McDonalds from the Hamburglar, but tries to keep tabs on the mad scientist's whereabouts. As the party comes to an end, Bethany lingers around hoping Joel Dr. Horrible hasn't left yet, but he is nowhere to be found. And just as she is about to give up and leave, Joel re-emerges! He walks up to Bethany and gives her an awkward side-hug. He nervously asks for her number and they mutually agree they should "hang out sometime". And so they did. And now they "do".
