Our Story

Better Together

Maddie and Jeremy met in January 2019 on the app Bumble. Maddie liked Jeremy’s self-deprecating profile, that he seemed to have a lot of friends, and that he worked a blue-collar job. Jeremy liked Maddie’s intelligence and sense of adventure. For their first date, they met at The Container Store because Maddie figured that if the date was a bust, at least she would have bought a laundry hamper, which she badly needed. Jeremy figured since they were meeting at Fashion Place Mall, he could get a new pair of Vans, so if the date went poorly, he would at least have that out of the day. After sussing each other out and establishing neither seemed like an axe murderer (allegedly, still up in the air), they got lunch at Laziz Kitchen and walked around Trolley Square. They liked each other basically instantly and had a lot to talk about. Maddie thought Jeremy was really cute and weird and funny, and Jeremy thought Maddie was funny, but shy, and could laugh at Jeremy’s dark sense of humor, and didn’t run away screaming at Jeremy’s honesty. They agreed to date seriously shortly thereafter. When Jeremy introduced Maddie to his friends in February, he introduced her as, “This is Maddie. She has a master’s degree,” and Maddie’s heart exploded. Jeremy realized he was falling in love with Maddie after seeing multiple instances of Maddie’s kindness and joyous personality shining through, especially when Jeremy was getting his Software Engineering Certificate. During COVID lockdown, Jeremy moved in with Maddie, and while they joke he just never left, they realized during COVID they worked really well together and could see a life together. They first started talking about marriage in 2023 and then more seriously in 2024. Jeremy proposed to Maddie in May 2024 in Japan at a beautiful glamping site near Mount Fuji at sunset, using her great-grandmother’s ring. They look forward to a life together of laughter, exploration, and fun. Their life goals are to travel to every state and national park in the US and also every continent, buy a house with a yard, own several dogs, and get really into gardening, fitness, and cooking. They are looking forward to making this thing official and appreciate your love and support throughout the years!
