Things to do in Charleston

Charleston is one of our favorite cities to visit. It has the beach, fun bars and some of the best restaurants we've ever been to. We also love Charleston for its amazing seafood and cute boutiques to shop.

Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens

1235 Long Point Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464
, (843) 884-4371

The most charming and romantic Plantation in all of Charleston! Start by walking down the Avenue of Oaks, one of the most spectacular entrances you'll ever see. After that, you can visit the grounds on your own or hop on a tractor for a guided tour! Boone Hall is definitely a Charleston icon - it has been used as a location for many movies such as "The Notebook". Even celebrities love the place (fun fact - Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively got married here!) Other plantations & estates that are beautiful that we've visited are: Legare Waring House & Magnolia Plantation

Folly Beach

Folly Beach, SC

One of the things we love about Charleston is that it has a beach! A short drive from Charleston's city center, Folly Beach is a great place to go to relax and enjoy the sun. With many beach side restaurants and bars, it serves as a great day trip.

Callie's Hot Little Biscuit

476 1/2 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403
, (843) 737-5159

This is hands down the best biscuit joint in all of Charleston. There is always a long line outside so make sure you get there early or arrive with a patient attitude to wait for the best savory or sweet biscuit you've ever had! Ever since Jen found this place, we don't leave Charleston without having breakfast or brunch or a random fat snack here. A personal favorite of Griffin's is the sausage and egg biscuit with pimiento cheese on top. For those of you with a sweet tooth, the iced blueberry and blackberry jam biscuits are Jen's favorites. This place is a MUST visit, trust us!

Historic Charleston City Market

188 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401
, (843) 937-0920

The City Market is a historic market in downtown Charleston. Established in the 1790s, the market has a wealth of local Charleston history and culture. Here, you can find many souvenirs and local handmade products made by locals in the area. There are hats, bags, pictures, jewelry, funny signs, and even sweets sold here. It is a great place to check out some of the local crafts and food!

Coast Bar and Grill

39 John Street, Charleston, SC 29403
, (843) 722-8838

If you like seafood, this is the place to be. The chefs meet daily at the local fish market to secure the freshest seafood in Charleston. We've eaten here numerous times before, and the blue crab dip is amazing!

Waterfront Park

Charleston, SC 29401

In the center of Waterfront Park stands a giant, gorgeous Pineapple fountain. The pineapple is a popular symbol in Charleston. It is seen on many 'Welcome' signs and stands for Southern Hospitality. We will certainly display a pineapple on our big day for you all as a symbol of how happy and gracious we are to have you as guests at our wedding in this beautiful city! Also for those of you looking for a great picture, the Park provides a beautiful photo backdrop.

Magnolias

185 East Bay Street, Charleston, SC 29401
, (843) 321-9333

This is one of Charleston's oldest and best restaurants. Jen and I have eaten here multiple times for dinner as well as for brunch. Their catfish dish is awesome and their brunch menu is a favorite of ours. This place is popular and well known so it is best to make a reservation.
