The Big Day!

Sunday, October 13th, 2019 6 p.m. at The William Aiken House Adult only ceremony & reception Black Tie Attire (Long Dresses/Tuxedos) We are so excited to spend Columbus day weekend with all our loved ones. We will have both the ceremony & reception at the William Aiken House, a historic mansion dating back to year 1810. Get ready for a vintage glam type of night! We can't wait to see everyone in their gowns & tuxedos (black suits are good too).

Why Charleston?

Aside from the top notch culinary, the warm weather, and the kind hospitality that you always receive when visiting Charleston, we want to share with you the place where our relationship blossomed. Charleston is where we took our first trip together as a couple, and is where we said “I love you” for the first time. Charleston was the beginning of it all - our love for travel, seafood, and each other.

How did we meet?

It was a blind date set up by my childhood lacrosse buddy and his sister who was Jen’s coworker. To everyone’s shock, Jen texted me first. Planning the date was an obvious next step and me being the upstate laidback guy I am, I asked her “where should we go to dinner? The east village is your turf.” Jen, being the straight to the point, no b.s. Jersey girl said “I’ll give you 2 options but you decide - you’re the man”. Little did I know, this decision game would follow for the next 2 years. Being the fish lovers that we are, we decided to meet at Blue Ribbon Sushi. We hit it off right away and even stayed until the place closed. After the wasabi dare to end dinner (this story has to be told in person), we finished our night dancing at Marquee in Chelsea. The rest was history. To say I was smitten was an understatement. I found every way possible to see Jen. I’d miss work and fight through midtown traffic to get to Jen’s job to enable her coffee addiction or to pick her up for lunch. We were inseparable from then on.

Popping the Question

Jen and I just purchased a beautiful new home in Jersey City, and I couldn't think of a better way to "christen" the house than by asking her to marry me, in it! I knew I wanted the event to be a big surprise, but more importantly I wanted it to be shared with our loved ones. A few weeks prior to the big day, I reached out to close family and friends and invited everyone to come over during the day while Jen was still at work. With the help of our Moms, the house was beautifully decorated with engagement and wedding themed designs. After careful planning, coordination and some luck, the party was ready for Jen's arrival. As Jen approached the house, all of the guests ran up to the roof and waited patiently for the newly engaged couple to come up. When Jen opened the door to our home, she was greeted by rose petals spanning up the stairs leading to yours truly. So many amazing thoughts and feelings were running through me as she made her way up the steps. I like to think she was surprised, but Jen always has a way of knowing EVERYTHING. After I did the whole get on one knee and propose thing, we took our celebratory champagne up to the roof where the rest of the party was waiting to surprise. The day could not have turned out any better, and we are so thankful for everyone who shared the day with us. Just a side note- in true Jen fashion, she started wedding planning the following morning. No joke.
