Delicious horchata and street tacos!
This was the place of our first date! Absolutely delicious pizza, salads, and drinks!
This is my favorite place in the valley to go. This is also the place where Bradley and I decided to become official after watching a meteor shower! It offers stunning views, and so many hikes. It is a fabulous drive - plan to spend half a day and bring a picnic.
If you don't know what a musk ox is - you need to go visit this place. Of course I'm suggesting this, because we are animal junkies! These are such neat ice age critters - you'll get a kick out of their snorting and be amazed at their thick fur.
This is a great place to see 15 different species of wildlife. If you take a special tour you'll even get to feed an animal! There are moose, wolves, brown bears, black bears, eagle, owl, porcupine, Sitka black-tailed deer, Wood bison, lynx, fox, coyotes, musk oxen, elk, and reindeer.
Watch for the high tides and keep your eyes peeled for the endangered Cook Inlet beluga whales! Ask Jen for more details because she works with these critters. Not to mention, driving the Seward Highway is incredibly beautiful.
Driving the Seward highway is an adventure all on its own. Enjoy the three hour drive from Wasilla to Seward. There's fun things like 5 hour wildlife viewing cruises, Alaska Sea Life Center, and hiking Exit Glacier. You can also catch the train ride down from Anchorage which is an absolutely stunning ride. Check the Alaska Railroad website for COVID restrictions.
One of the best pizza joints in Anchorage! Call ahead for seating because they're always busy!
If you find yourself in Girdwood, this is the fanciest and most delicious place to eat. It is a little spendy!
Yummiest unique ice cream in town! Can't go wrong with their interesting and delicious homemade flavors.
Amazing breakfast! Everything is good to eat here. If you like cinnamon rolls... they have jumbo ones!
Great place to learn about native Alaskan culture - rotating exhibit on the top floor is usually pretty cool!
Take a ride up the tram! If you book ahead for dining at the top of the mountain, the tram is free.
Friday, August 20, through Monday, September 6, at the fairgrounds in Palmer. Hours will be 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily. During the 14-day run, the Fair will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (August 24 – 25 and August 31 – September 1).
Drive down to Whittier - go through the tunnel (tunnel fee is $11) and go on a halibut charter with Crazy Ray's or a wildlife cruise! Both are great adventures. Call ahead for reservations.
Go on a tour, maybe get licked by a moose and see some reindeer!
Hike up Flattop for a view over Anchorage! Pretty good climb - I'd suggest downloading All Trails app if you wanna do more hikes in Alaska! There's soooo many!
Great hike! Pretty good climb up the mountain - great vistas!
Beautiful hike - make sure you have bear spray! You can borrow some from Jen.
Beautiful hike in the woods that ends at a waterfall. Not super difficult - bring bug dope on all the trails because otherwise the mosquitoes make take off with your body.
Great place to learn about native Alaskan culture and unique housing structures of each tribe. Really neat dances, jewelry, and history. You can walk around and view and walk in different tribes houses.
Bradley and I love going here... maybe too much... it's not good that it's so close to the house either.
Great sushi and thai, a little more on the spendy side, but delicious!
You can never go wrong with teriyaki chicken and pulled pork! Hawaiian's doing it right! Don't forget to grab a piece of mango cake!
Delicious diner! Get the stuffed french toast for a real treat!
Great German food place - order the schnitzel!
This is a place where Jen frequents... it's probably a good thing she moved to Wasilla so she doesn't go everyday... ha!
Very quick and short hike with a rewarding view of a beautiful waterfall! Parking is at the end of a cul-de-sac. Just don't block anyone in!
Great drive if you want to spend a day out of the big city. Kenai has incredible blue waters and good salmon fishing! A few hours south of Anchorage.
