I doubt it. Most people lose reception upon entering the valley. Consider it an excuse to unplug! There is a cell phone booster in the Community House, which helps reception for some. Jeff and Bailey have a landline for local calls that can be made available. Long-distance calls are possible with a prepaid calling card. In case of emergency, the Community House has a landline, as well.
...Nope, not so much. You'll probably have to head to town for that!
Maybe...!? The final leg of your journey will take you down into the valley we live in, which is when you may lose signal. Your best bet is to bring a map and copy down the directions before you get too close, just in case.
Call our landline or the Community House's landline for assistance. Numbers can be found at the top of this page. In case nobody is manning the phone, please leave a message and we'll get back to you asap.
If you're not usually roughing it out there, deep in the woods, we don't expect you to go out and purchase a tent for the weekend. There are options!! Contact us at least 2 weeks ahead of time and we can help you coordinate a tent (or a space in one). Winona State University also has a great gear rental program, as does your local REI. If you're not one for tent-dwelling, we encourage you to check out the Travel page for other ideas.
This will be a great time to start ; ) Kidding! We want our guests to be comfortable. There are options if tents don't speak to you. Check out the Travel page for more.
If you're looking to stay at Zephyr, the answer is no. We ask campers to stick to the basics and sleep in a tent. Or hammock. Something that leaves a very light footprint on the property. Check the Travel page for off-farm options if you'd like to use your RV. There are campgrounds in the area. When in doubt, contact us with questions.
Absolutely NO PETS are allowed to visit Zephyr. Zero! Zilch! Nada! This is a very strict NO PETS policy, no exceptions. Jeff and Bailey do have cats you can spend time with if you're going through pet withdrawal while in the area, though!
Yes... but.......... access may be limited. There is one shower in the Community House. There is another at Jeff and Bailey's house. Both have relatively small septic systems that we don't want to overfill, so please do not plan on showering everyday. If you opt to camp in a neighbor's yard or on their couch, access to a shower could be a bonus. If you're okay with a bit of grease and grime--or are up for going a more rustic route--we're planning on installing an outdoor stalled shower for the event, and the swimming pond is another amazing option for washing off*. *No soaps/shampoos, please
Nothing fancy needed. Comfort is the main concern! It's also important to note that ticks are in the area, so you should definitely take appropriate precautions there when you're hiking around. (Do your tick checks every night!! Wearing your pants tucked into your socks is all the rage around here-- own it!) There are also gnats, so if you've got a spray that works well for them, bring it. Wearing a hat seems to work wonders, too! The good news is that mosquitoes are typically not much of a hassle-- yay biodiversity!! : )
We camp! We play! We make the most of it! There are lines to hang things to dry. There is a community dryer if things get soaked. Don't forget your rain jacket and muck boots if the weather report looks like it'll be a rainy weekend!
Our tent city will be located close to the Community House, where there is space to huddle together and stay safe in storms. Jeff and Bailey's home will also be available, as well as other neighbor's abodes. We will have access to weather reports so it shouldn't sneak up on us.
We will be providing a large rental tent with sides for the reception on Saturday, in case its rainy (or hot!). We're working on our exact plan for stormy weather during the ceremony and reception. Most likely, we'll be able to get creative and keep both events at Zephyr Valley Community Coop. However, we will keep you posted on what we decide to do in case of challenging weather.
Yes, please! Read more about the potluck on the Home or Schedule pages. There will be space to create a dish, if you plan ahead. There will be some space to store your dish, as well. Desserts, salads, soups, sides...it's all welcome! The main course will be provided.
YOU. HERE. WITH US. CELEBRATING! That's really it. (Try and believe us.) Please ignore the automated message announcing that there will be a registry posted eventually. We can't get rid of that, but it is untrue!
Click on the RSVP tab above. Type in your FIRST NAME + LAST INITIAL only. If you are having trouble finding your name, you probably followed the websites' rules perfectly and entered your full last name. We need you to go ahead and break the rules!! Please enter only the INITIAL of your last name, as that's how your name has been saved in our guest list. Have a hyphenated name? The rule still applies. Someone with the last name of Coleman-Morris, for example, would be found under the C's. If you're still having trouble, you're probably not the only one! Please let us know ASAP. Our contact info is at the top of this page.
We will have our ceremony Saturday afternoon and the reception will follow. We will post the rest of the schedule once it is finalized. This info will be found under the Schedule tab. Please check back for updates!
You will find a 'Schedule' tab at the top of the website page once we've finalized day-by-day events. I predict it will be tweaked here and there, even after posting, so check back often for updates! Overall, we'd like the long weekend to be an opportunity for you to explore the area in whatever way suits you.
