Twas a tale as old as fandoms. Two star-crossed, line-waiting nerds, not knowing what the future would bring. They only knew one thing: their feet hurt. Our story begins at AwesomeCon 2023, on the last day, as our heroes waited in line for the dealer’s room. Paul stood in line, chatting with the rest of the fellow con goers, complaining about the heat and sore feet. Jasper, the ever-creative craft dragon, sat on a bench, crocheting a dice bag. She joined in the conversation, catching Paul’s attention. Seeing her creative skills, her radiant beauty, as well as her love for all things nerdy, Paul took the first step and asked for Jasper’s number.

As their relationship blossomed, Jasper invited Paul to a baseball game, informing her soon-to-be boyfriend that they were at the point in their relationship where she could invite him to come to games with her. Unaware of their official relationship status, Paul asked if they were in a relationship. Jasper stammered, unaware of what to say. Paul then asked if she wanted to be his girlfriend. Still, Jasper stammered. A few days later, Jasper and Paul hung out at Otakon 2023 as Jasper pondered an answer to his question. Three days went by before she finally said: Yes, I would like to be your girlfriend.

Plans for Project Proposal began in March 2024 when the idea of a Sailor Moon-inspired wedding proposal was suggested. Enlisting the help of his fellow Mandalorians, Paul crafted the proposal as a part of an ongoing cross-play cosplay idea, combining Star Wars and Sailor Moon. Unbeknownst to Jasper, Paul coordinated the creation of the costumes for the proposal, the Usagi engagement ring, and a chalice-ring holder from Sailor Moon. As Otakon loomed closer, Paul coordinated with the coordinators who were hosting a Sailor Moon photoshoot, collaborating on the final details. All that Jasper knew was that the proposal was going to happen that Friday of Otakon, after the Sailor Moon photoshoot. The day of the photoshoot, Jasper was assisting with the Merch Booth while Paul, Crystol, and Lisa met up with the remaining members of the cosplay group. When the photoshoot began, everyone had gathered… except for Jasper. Frantically, Paul tried to get in touch with Jasper, to no avail. Thankfully, with the aid of his comrade-at-arms, Paul was able to prolong and stall the photoshoot until Jasper finally arrived. The coordinators called all of the Sailor Moons and Tuxedo Masks to the front, then asked for all the Star Wars Sailor Moon group to come up. The group gathered behind Paul as the coordinators handed him the microphone. Tears of joy dropped from Jasper’s eyes as her soon-to-be fiancé gave a beautiful Sailor Moon themed speech and dropped to one knee.
