Things To Do

Here are some of our favorite things to check out in Akron while you're in town!

Akron Art Museum

1 South High Street, Akron, OH 44308

The Museum showcases regional, national and international art created since 1850, and is within walking distance from both downtown hotel blocks!

Highland Square PorchROKR Music and Arts Festival ⁣⁣

PorchROKR, which takes place in the Highland Square Neighborhood on August 19th is a one-of-a-kind outdoor music festival experience, showcasing some of the best musical talent from around the region. You'll be able to walk around Highland Square and catch plenty of bands rocking out on different homes' porches all day!

Mr. Zub's Deli & Bar

795 West Market Street, Akron, OH 44303

This is definitely a must-stop place if you're doing some sightseeing in Highland Square and are super hungry! They're known for their 48 gourmet sandwiches.

The Ohio and Erie Towpath Trail

Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, Akron, OH

The Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail is the path where, from 1827 to 1913, mules pulled canal boats laden with passengers and goods up and down the historic Ohio & Erie Canal. Today’s trail follows the historic towpath as closely as possible! This trail is an awesome way to get fresh air on a walk or jog and it offers plenty of trailheads in downtown Akron for you to check out this historic trail. Julia and Jared have plenty of spent time biking on it during summers spent in Akron and recommend it if you have the time!

Luigi's Restaurant

105 North Main Street, Akron, OH 44308

This family-owned Italian restaurant is an Akron-gem that's been famous since 1949. They're known for their pizzas, pasta, and most famously, their salad which is topped with a mountain of cheese! Not to mention, they're open late until 2:00 am on the weekends! Pro tip: Luigi's is cash only but they have an ATM onsite.

Akronym Brewing

58 East Market Street, Akron, OH 44308

Akronym is one of a handful of breweries downtown, and it's just across from the Akron Art Museum. You'll find it has a lovely outdoor beer garden for you to grab a drink and some lunch while enjoying the outdoors.

Wally Waffle

845 West Market Street, Akron, OH 44303

If you're looking to explore Highland Square, Wally Waffle is a staple diner-style breakfast joint that is known for its decadent waffles!

Akron Zoo

500 Edgewood Avenue, Akron, OH 44307

The Akron Zoo is home to more than 1000 animals and represents over 100 different species from around the world!

The Blue Door Café & Bakery

1970 State Road, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223

This is one of Julia and Jared's favorite brunch places in Akron and it is worth the wait! It has been recognized by both the New York Times and Tripadvisor as serving the best brunch in Ohio. They have amazing breakfast options, fresh-baked pastries and plenty of coffee and drink options. They usually have a wait in the mornings, so we recommend going early, but you can also get on their waitlist via their website!
