What is the dress code?

Answer

The attire is formal, also known as black tie optional. Guests are requested to choose between a tuxedo, a suit, or a dress that is midi to floor length.

What is the parking situation?

Answer

The hotels have nearby parking garages as well as valet. For the ceremony: there is free parking onsite at the Historic Trinity Lutheran Church. Vehicles will have to be removed at the end of the ceremony. The reception venue, the Colony Club, also has onsite free parking in the adjacent Comerica parking garage (50 W. Montcalm, Detroit). The parking garage code to enter is 0369. Vehicles may be left overnight but must be removed before 9am on Sunday morning.

Are children allowed at the wedding?

We love your little ones but request no children at the reception with the exception of breast feeding infants.

Is there a hotel block?

Answer

Yes, please see the Travel tab of the website on how to book at either the Hotel David Whitney or the Atheneum Suites. The Atheneneum will not be able to accept reservations made after Friday, October 7th, and the David Whitney Hotel after the 17th.

We request that you be seated in the church 15 minutes before 1pm.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Both our ceremony and reception spaces will be indoors.

What is the best way to get around?

Answer

Guests with a car may park at either the ceremony or the reception venues. Vehicles may be left overnight at the reception venue as long as they are collected by 9am the following morning. Guests without a car may utilize public transportation such as the Detroit People Mover which has stops at both hotels that have a block reservation. The reception venue is located 0.3 mi/6 minute walk away from the David Whitney Hotel.
