How We Met

The only good thing to come from a Business Expo.

It was the Vermont Business Expo in 2014. The company's we were both working for at the time happened to be "strategically" placed directly across from one another. After two days of awkward small talk and an exchange of business cards, Andrew finally mustered up the courage to ask Janell out for a drink...at the hotel bar. Good thing it was a two day expo, because it took him until the very last minute with a pep talk from one of his groomsman (Mike) to give it a shot, even with Janell handwriting her number on her business card. They met for drinks following the end of the Expo -- Andrew (like a true gentleman) walked Janell out to her classy Twinstate Technologies' work van and proceeded to ask her out to dinner. Janell of course agreed, but under the conditions that he travel to Plattsburgh (where she was living at the time) to take her out to dinner. A bit hesitant to go "all the way to Plattsburgh," Andrew obliged. Little did they know that they would be making that trip back and forth for years to come. And that's how it all began.

The Proposal

How he popped the question

After a TSA standoff and a potential proposal in Logan Airport, we arrived in Estes Park, Colorado. With the first attempt foiled by a rather intimidating storm (it’s a good thing we didn’t hike that day!), attempt number two was a bit more successful. We hopped in our souped up four-wheeler, Janell was driving (naturally) and began bouncing around the wooded and sometimes snowy trail. After a difficult and icy climb up to the top of the last trail, we climbed to the tip of the mountain. It was a bit precarious, so the ring stayed safely in the box until we were back on solid ground. Then the celebration began (beers + a ghost tour at the hotel from “The Shining”…)!
