Rock city might be one of the coolest tourist attractions we have ever been to. It feels like you are walking into a fairytale. The main attraction is when you hit the top of the mountain and you can see seven states from the lookout. Just when you think there isn’t much left to see, it gets even more interesting! We recommend that you go first thing in the morning when it’s cooler and less crowded. Reservations are required for this attraction.
Have you ever imagined a waterfall that lies over 1000 feet underground? At Ruby Falls, that’s exactly what you’ll get to experience. Learn about how the waterfall was discovered and walk through underground caverns to reach this stunning waterfall. The experience is complete with a light show once you reach your destination. James and I loved this experience and we hope that you find time to see it yourselves! Reservations are required.
Instead of driving to the top of Lookout Mountain, you can take a mile long incline railway to the top! This experience offers panoramic views while you climb your way to the summit. Once you reach the top of the mountain, you can walk to point park and learn about the famous civil war battle that took place here. Point Park also offers amazing views from the top of the mountain! Reservations are required.
The Tennessee Aquarium is ranked one of the best aquarium’s in the US! It’s so large that it actually expands over two separate buildings. The first building will walk you through the river lands and you can explore wild life that is native to the area as well as other mammals found throughout the United States. The second building has marine life that can be found all over the world! It was one of the most impressive aquarium’s we’ve seen! Reservations are required.
Located about 10 minutes from our wedding venue is Cloudland Canyon State Park. This is the location that James and I had our engagement photos taken. We hiked to the bottom of the canyon and took our photos at Cherokee Falls though there are many different hikes you can choose to do here. Please see the website for the full list of hikes! Entry to the park costs $5.
James and I wanted to give a special shout out to this Korean steakhouse we tried on our first visit to Chattanooga. The food was superb! The steak literally melts in your mouth and the restaurant only serves great quality beef. If you are looking to book a nice meal during your trip, we highly recommend you check this place out! Reservations are recommended.
