The Amazon registry mostly consists of furniture for our home. Each piece of furniture has the option to buy it yourself completely, or to contribute an amount towards that particular gift. Once the full price for that gift has been contributed to, it will be shipped to our place. If the full amount isn't ever given, then James and I can either pay the rest of the amount ourselves or find something else we need, with the money that was contributed for that item.
