We met on 1 November 2018, just after Aisling had moved to London and was fully committed to being in her "solo girl era". James was meant to be a very casual drink - no expectations, no pressure, and definitely nothing serious on either side…but we all know how that turned out. A few days later, we met again…and then again. And then somehow every single day after that for two weeks straight. At that point, it became pretty obvious that this was something special. In 2020, James moved into Aisling’s flat so she wouldn’t be alone during lockdown - a decision that worked out well for everyone involved. By June 2021, we’d bought our first home together, and in August we made it official by adding Paddy (our dog...but very much our first child!) to the mix. Somewhere in between all of that, we managed to make a lot of memories travelling, whether that be weekend breaks to the Cotswolds, Cornwall or Devon or bigger adventures to Thailand, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Australia (to name a few!). Whether we’re exploring a new country or just heading out for another dog walk and a Sunday roast, we’re happiest doing it together. On 1 November 2024 - exactly six years after our first date - James proposed on a coastal walk in Noosa, Australia at a viewpoint called Hell’s Gate. Take from that what you will but, despite the name, the answer was an easy yes (and a lot of happy tears...from both of us!).
