After telling Paul she would be a few minutes late—a seeming ten seconds later—Paul looked up and saw this beautiful lady in a black-and-white checkered dress determinedly crossing the street. He thought to himself, “That must be her.” Jaclyn walked through the door of the tea shop in Alexandria, VA and the serious face dissolved into a smile as she stuck her hand out and said, “Hi, I’m Jaclyn.” And that is where it all started—the blind date that changed their lives forever. Paul ordered a sweet tea and dumplings, Jaclyn a black coffee; they shared great conversation and knew there was something more, something different and special about the other. After a few more dates, long conversations, and walks around D.C., they made it official. The following months were spent with fun travels, culinary-adventures, getting to know each other’s loved ones, and an epic dueling of their home football teams: Commanders vs. Eagles (let’s go birds)! It didn’t take long before they knew that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together, so on a perfect April day, Paul awaited his lovely Jay in a garden they frequently walked to. He asked Jaclyn to marry him and through misty eyes she said “yes.” It is hard to think about the time when they were strangers and a life where they weren’t together. They can’t wait to celebrate, with you, the union that will make their love one and inseparable forever.
