Question

What do I need to know about traveling to Hawaii and COVID-19?

Answer

We strongly encourage everyone to research before traveling as things are fluid and often change. A few suggested sites you can check are listed below. As of January 16, 2021,a Hawaii requires 10-day quarantines upon arrival, or you can get tested 72 hours prior to departure to bypass this HOWEVER it must be from a trusted site. If you plan to go outer island, additional testing is required. All islands have different rules. We strongly encourage everyone to research. We understand if anyone feels uncomfortable traveling. https://hawaiicovid19.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/SafeTravelsFacts_2-3-21.pdf https://www.hawaiitourismauthority.org/covid-19-updates/ https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel/getting-to-hawaii/ https://recoverynavigator.hawaii.gov/reopening-status/ https://www.hawaii-guide.com/hawaii-covid-testing On 3/27/21, Hawaii now allows outdoor weddings up to 100, and our venue/reception allows up to 100.

Question

If I received a COVID-19 vaccine, do I still need to follow the COVID testing rules as mandated by the State of Hawaii for travel?

Answer

YES - per the site: https://ag.hawaii.gov/travelexemption/: VACCINATED TRAVELERS: Presently, proof of vaccination is not a recognized exemption to the Hawaiʻi travel quarantine. The state continues to evaluate the latest science and will inform travelers of any new exemptions as those decision are made.

Question

Do I have to go a specific place for COVID testing prior to departure?

Answer

YES, Hawaii will only accept tests from specific sites. NOTICE: The state of Hawai‘i will ONLY accept Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) from a certified Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) lab test results from TRUSTED TESTING AND TRAVEL PARTNERS. For the full list of Domestic trans-Pacific, Inter-County, International and airline partners or information on how to become a new Trusted Partner, go to TRUSTED TESTING AND TRAVEL PARTNERS. Once you take your negative COVID test, you must create a profile (your doctor should give you instructions, or ask) to upload a PDF only only of your test results.

Question

Once in Hawaii, will I have to do anything else COVID-related?

Answer

Yes, you will have to check into the travel.hawaii.gov site/profile you created and answer a daily questionnaire for 10 days. DO ALL YOUR OWN RESEARCH. We have tried our best to provide as much info as we can.

Question

Do I need to wear a face covering?

Answer

We are trying to abide by all rules and regulations. Please be sure to bring your face covering to wear indoors at the wedding reception at Mid Pac Country Club.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Hawaii is extremely lush because it rains every day. We will be getting married on the windward (east) side of Oahu, which tends to be a lot wetter than the leeward (west) side. Rain virtually stops in July, yet there can still be the occasional shower. A majority of the time, winds coming from east to west provide some relief from the hot, humid environment. Honolulu has an average of 63% humidity during the year. Temperatures at sea level generally range from highs of 85–90 °F. Rarely does the temperature rise above 90 °F or drop below 65 °F at lower elevations.

Question

What is traffic like on Oahu?

Answer

Oahu is 44 miles long, 30 miles wide, 112 miles around and is the third-largest island in the Hawaiian Islands. It is home to 953,000 residents, so traffic can be congested. Be sure to allow yourself ample time to get anywhere. Of course, during these COVID times, traffic could be lighter....anything is possible!

Question

Where is the best place to stay?

Answer

Please be sure to research Oahu in regards to any specific regulations regarding AirBnB's or VRBO's, with 30-day minimum stays. Some places have work-arounds...we recommend staying in Honolulu, or Waikiki as it is more central. This is where the bulk of the hotels on Oahu are located. You might be able to find something in Kailua, which is close to the venue. We recommend the Stay Hotel/Stay Condos for clean, affordable accommodations. The choice is up to you.

Question

Should I get a rental car?

Answer

Most of the hotels in Waikiki should have shuttle service to/from the airport however, Stay Condos and Stay Hotel do not, as they are a smaller outfit. If you plan to stay in Waikiki the majority of your trip, and only use the rental to get back and forth from the airport or to the venue, be aware that many hotels have daily parking fees. If you need transportation to Stay Hotel/Condo, call Robert's Hawaii at 808-539-9400. There are two rental car companies in Waikiki (Alamo is close to Stay) who offer day rentals. If you will be exploring the island, then it may be worth it to get a rental car. It is all personal preference, as it will depend on how you plan your vacation. Please refer to our Travel page of our website for additional info.

Question

Does Oahu have Uber or Lyft?

Answer

Yes, these services are available in Hawaii, but please bear in mind that Hawaiian Time is a real thing!! If you're planning to utilize Uber/Lyft to get to the ceremony and back from Waikiki to Kailua, it may cost you as much as $60 one-way. Do your research, as this is not a guaranteed price and also, please note that wait times could be longer than what you may be accustomed to in your home town.

Question

How do I get to the wedding venue?

Answer

If you are in Honolulu, the best route to Lanikai is 61 or the Pali Highway. The drive could take 35-45 minutes, or longer if weather and traffic are uncooperative. Be sure to check traffic and road conditions as Oahu traffic can be congested. Please refer to the map on the Travel page of this website. If you happen to be on the east side, such as Hanauma Bay, you can come around the island rather than going back through Honolulu. Or if the Pali is closed, the Likelike is an alternate route. If you are coming from the west, you will want to take H3.

Question

Can I RSVP on this website?

Answer

No. Please either use your RSVP card and mail it back to us or simply email skizackie@yahoo.com. Please be sure to include the number in your party and whether you are attending the wedding in Hawaii or the BBQ in Denver (or both!) This will help us ensure we have an accurate headcount. Mahalo!

Question

What if it rains the day of the wedding ceremony?

Answer

In Hawaii, rain is considered a blessing. And, rain generally passes quickly. We don't mind the rain messing up our hair! And you can bet that if it does rain, a beautiful rainbow is sure to follow. Our wedding is taking place on the Windward side of Oahu, which definitely tends to have more showers than the Leeward side. We hope to see you there, rain or shine!
