Having grown up within the west coast triangle of Dutch Harbor, Alaska; Seattle, Washington and Honolulu, Hawaii, Jackie was exposed to nature at a young age, which cultivated a deep passion within her for the outdoors - both the mountains and ocean. Having tired of living in the rain in Washington State, after graduating college, she moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado in 1997 enticed by the 300 days of sunshine a year. She made every effort to travel to the ocean once a year, just to feel the sand between her toes, hear the sound of the surf, and the smell of the salt air. She has always known that she wanted to be married on the beach. She read somewhere that Lanikai meant “The beach that is closest to heaven.” Lanikai, a small community, nestled just beyond Kailua, on the windward side of Oahu, with its soft, powder-like white sand beach and sparkling blue waters with the Mokulua islands (the “Mokes”) on the horizon, has always held a special place in Jackie’s heart. It only seemed fitting for Jackie and Kevin to be married here, in this heavenly spot. Likewise, Kevin, having grown up in rural Pennsylvania, also had a deep appreciation for mountains, wildlife and nature. As an adolescent, his uncle David took him hunting, which is a popular activity in his home state. Kevin longed to escape the small town confines, and ventured west for college, where he studied Forestry at CSU in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Kevin chose to change careers and pursued programming which he finds challenging yet rewarding. It became his personal mission to hunt every single big game animal in the state, which he successfully mastered after 26 years. Had they both not ventured to Colorado, Fate might not have introduced them. Jackie and Kevin can often be found in the mountains exploring, off-roading, camping, rafting, skiing, hiking, horseback riding or mountain biking. They also enjoy traveling afar seeing new places or visiting friends and family.
