We met during preseason the month before school started our freshman year at Santa Clara University. Before the rest of the students were on campus, the water polo and cross country student-athletes shared a floor in Graham Hall. Our teams became fast friends as we spent our time barbecuing, watching movies, and exploring Santa Clara in between practices. We started dating winter of our freshman year, although the exact start of our formal relationship is unclear. Julia remembers it as "Jack was always there," and Jack remembers it as "Love at first sight." We navigated college together through countless water polo games (Julia still doesn't fully understand the rules), cross country and track meets (Jack is now a runner himself), study dates, and Rosie's breakfast burritos. We found a shared love of travel through study abroad in London and road trips all over the West Coast. After college, Jack moved to Seattle to pursue a graduate degree at the University of Washington while Julia began working at Picky Bars in Bend, Oregon. Following this stretch of dating at a distance and the onset of the pandemic, Jack joined Julia in Central Oregon for a year of high desert adventures before we decided to return to the Bay Area. Now in Seattle, this time together, we are excited to continue exploring and growing as people. We are beyond thrilled to celebrate this next step of life surrounded by our friends and family in Central Oregon - the center of our West Coast road trips and a place that feels like home.
Thank you to Jack's brother, Teddy Larkin, for designing our Save the Dates! And a big thank you to Abbey Liao (@amlxphotography) for our San Francisco photos and Hannah Turner (@hannahturnerphoto) for our Central Oregon photos!
